Chapter 280 Do You Wish It Were Her
On the plane, Gabriel clung to the unconscious, blood-soaked Natalie, tears silently streaming down his face.
The plane was packed with his old buddies, all too stunned by the scene to say a word.
Luckily, one of his pals, Alan Jordan, was a military doctor. He did some quick first aid, and once they got to the ship, he started the surgery.
Gabriel watched the whole thing, eyes glued to Natalie's face, scared it was all just a bad dream.
As Alan pulled out the bullet, Gabriel was more on edge than anyone, his face tight and sweaty, not sure if he was mad or just plain scared.
After the surgery, Alan let out a bitter laugh and looked at Gabriel.
"I've never done such a nerve-wracking surgery! Every time I made a cut, you looked like you wanted to rip me apart. You planning to stab me or something?"
Gabriel just glared at him with bloodshot eyes.
Alan, pissed off, walked away. If they weren't so close, he would've lost it a long time ago.
Kyle had been watching the whole thing. Gabriel's actions made it hard for him to keep holding a grudge against the guy who saved his sister.
Yves was always trying to take care of Natalie too, but Gabriel, with his crew backing him up, always managed to push Yves out, leaving him cursing in frustration.
Kyle didn't stop Gabriel from being near Natalie because he knew Gabriel's feelings for her ran deeper than anyone could imagine.
Gabriel stood on the deck, looking stern and conflicted.
He held a photo taken by a passerby on the streets of Eldoria, his fingers pale.
Maybe the scene was too intense, so the photographer had put it up on the wall of a café across from the underground fight club.
In his mind, he only remembered a woman with her back to him, opening that palace-like door, sunlight cutting through the darkness, giving his life a new start.
And in the photo, it was her front, that stunning red dress making her look noble and radiant.
But the darkness behind her shrouded his silhouette.
Behind her, Gabriel was covered in blood, unconscious, and in a sorry state.
But her expression was determined, bringing him out of the underground fight club's territory, each step firm and unwavering.
When Gabriel saw the photo, his eyes were filled with shock, his eyes reddened. Did he really understand the brave and radiant girl?
"Is the person in the photo really Natalie?"
His voice was hoarse, rich, and magnetic.
Kyle glanced sideways, his gaze indifferent, a smile playing on his lips.
"Mr. Kensington, do you hope it's her?"
Gabriel's lips pressed into a tight line, his mind filled with too many chaotic questions.
Why was she there?
Why did she become the woman who brought him out?
Why had she never mentioned this?
He couldn't find the answers, but he could feel that the answers seemed to weigh more than his life.
He opened his dry mouth, but before he could speak, he heard Yves shouting loudly from inside, "Natalie's awake. Where's the doctor?"
Gabriel's whole body shook, his mind blank, and he rushed inside.
Kyle smiled faintly, then petted Starshadow's fur and leisurely walked in.
Starshadow squinted comfortably, rubbing against Kyle's arms.
"Mommy doesn't like him anymore. When Mommy wakes up, she won't want to see him. Gabriel is a jerk!"
Kyle gently patted it. "Don't talk nonsense."
Suddenly, he remembered something. "Violet changed your settings to make you dislike him. Let me change it back for you."
