Chapter 288 He Feels So Sad
Even though Yves was just outside the door, the soundproofing in this place was top-notch!
So, he didn't catch a single word!
Gabriel left after saying something weird, and Yves was dying to know what it was all about.
Natalie bit her lip, her eyes trembling a bit as she looked down. "It's nothing, Yves. How long until we get home?"
"Two or three days, I think."
Yves frowned. It better be nothing, or Gabriel's gonna get it!
Starshadow, cuddled in Natalie's arms, poked its head out, its voice all sweet and soft. "Daddy left. Daddy is so sad."
Yves was confused.
Natalie asked, "Daddy? You mean Gabriel?"
Starshadow sighed dramatically. "Mommy rejected Daddy; he's really sad."
Yves stepped forward and grabbed Starshadow by the neck. "What the heck! Don't you hate him? You little traitor!"
Starshadow kicked its legs, letting out a haughty yet cold hum.
"Kyle said you guys need to be objective; he already tweaked my program. I don't dislike Daddy anymore!"
Natalie rolled her eyes. "Kyle is too much; how can he just mess with Starshadow's thoughts like that?"
Starshadow's whiskers twitched cutely. "Kyle said, you shouldn't teach bad things to little animals!"
Natalie and Yves exchanged a look.
Forget it, they couldn't win against Kyle together.
Natalie was really worn out, her injuries still not healed, her whole body aching, like the strength she'd held onto for days had finally given out, and the pain kept coming and going.
Gabriel's words echoed in her mind, like a haunting melody.
Natalie tried hard to shake it off, but she couldn't really forget.
In her sleep, scenes of gunfire on the island and street battles in Eldoria kept playing in her mind, giving her constant nightmares.
When she woke up, she saw Yves, who had stayed up all night worrying about her, his dark eyelashes lowered, his tone firm yet relaxed.
"Yves, find me a psychologist."
The night was a deep blue, the sea reflecting the stars and moonlight, ripples spreading out with the cold wind.
Gabriel stood on the deck, his tall figure casting a long shadow, his eyes as dark as an abyss.
He stood there silently, his cold and sharp aura blending with the chill of the sea.
Alan strolled over, his voice carrying a hint of amusement. "Is our Mr. Kensington here feeling sad because of a woman?"
He'd never seen Gabriel, who usually didn't give a damn about anything, so thrown off for an entire day just because of a few words from Natalie.
Gabriel's jawline was sharp, and at first glance, his eyes seemed emotionless.
But if you looked closer, you'd see they were filled with heavy emotions.
Gabriel quickly masked his feelings, his gaze sweeping over, his voice low and rough. "I feel like she won't like me anymore."
Alan raised an eyebrow. "You saved her; is she still blaming you?"
Gabriel let out a bitter laugh. "She stopped hating me a long time ago, so no, she doesn't blame me."
But not blaming him didn't mean she liked him.
The Kensington family could have all sorts of ties with the Clark family, but Natalie would never have anything to do with Gabriel again.
Alan sighed, patting his shoulder. "Then there's still hope. You gotta pay for the dumb stuff you did back then. If you've decided on her, you have to go after her, no matter what it takes. Otherwise, how can you face us, who risked our necks to help you?"
Gabriel's lips curved into a smile, his eyes showing a bit of relief.
"Did they all go back?"
"Yeah, otherwise the paperwork for a few giant helicopters entering the country would be a nightmare. If it weren't for the patient, I would've gone too. By the way, Yves came to me today, asking if I could do some psychological treatment. Is Ms. Clark..."
Alan trailed off, frowning slightly. With everything that's happened, if it were anyone else, their mind would've snapped by now.
Natalie's mental strength was impressive, being able to hold it together even now.
But as soon as Gabriel heard this, his face darkened, anxiety and worry clear in his eyes.
He didn't even have time to keep feeling sad; he immediately walked away.
Alan, who had planned to have a good chat, fell silent.
He'd only said a few words, and he was already left behind?
Gabriel walked to the corner of the corridor and heard Yves on the phone with Victor.
"Yeah, she's been having nightmares all day, and she's got a low fever."
He thought about stopping, but Kyle, who was standing opposite Yves, had already spotted him, so Gabriel walked over openly.
Yves, still on the phone, rolled his eyes at him and continued talking to Victor.
"Of course, I've been taking good care of Natalie. Everything's fine when she's awake; she asked to see a psychologist herself."
Hearing this, Gabriel's brow furrowed deeply.
