Chapter 346 It's My Fault
When Natalie woke up again, the smell of disinfectant was in the air.
She realized she was in a hospital.
She breathed a sigh of relief.
In her dream, it felt like she was still bungee jumping, falling, bouncing back up, and falling again.
The repeated weightlessness made her body tremble and tense, filling her with panic.
A warm towel wiped her warm forehead. Natalie turned her head and saw that the person beside her was Gabriel, and her expression instantly soured.
"Why are you still here?"
Gabriel responded, "It's my fault."
His voice was low and hoarse, filled with endless remorse.
Even when she was unconscious, she was having nightmares, sweating continuously, and muttering, "Don't push me."
It was all his fault!
He hadn't expected Natalie to be so scared.
If he had known, he would have jumped a hundred times himself rather than drag her along!
Natalie turned her head away, avoiding his towel.
Just as she was about to tell him to leave, Demi and the driver appeared.
"Ms. Clark, you're awake?"
Demi was holding a thermos and skillfully poured a bowl of soup.
"It's chicken noodle soup. Supposed to be comforting."
Natalie accepted it, breathed in the aroma, and nodded appreciatively. She was hungry, so she drank a few sips and put it down.
Gabriel took her bowl, intending to clean up.
Demi quickly intervened, "Mr. Kensington, you don't need to do that. Please, just rest."
Natalie looked indifferent, "Aren't you always busy? Can you not be here?"
Gabriel's lips tightened, and his eyes darkened slightly.
"I won't disturb you."
"Your presence in this room is disturbing me."
She unceremoniously asked him to leave.
Gabriel paused for a moment, then stood up and left.
Demi sighed at her fierce demeanor.
"Ms. Clark, don't be angry. Mr. Kensington carried you all the way to the hospital."
"What?"
Demi explained, "The ambulance lacked essential equipment, and the tire was punctured when we left. Mr. Kensington was frantic and carried you down the mountain himself."
Natalie's eyes widened, staring blankly in one direction.
It seemed she couldn't even be righteously angry anymore!
"Also, when you fainted, you kept holding onto him and wouldn't let go. Didn't you notice you were still clutching his sleeve just now?
When he tried to pull away, you cried, so he didn't dare leave and stayed here the whole time. This soup was also arranged by Mr. Kensington."
Natalie felt a bit embarrassed. Was she that pathetic when she fainted?
"Is the show already finished?"
She quickly changed the subject.
Demi nodded, "It's already over. Everyone has gone back. We'll leave once you recover."
Natalie nodded, feeling relieved.
Demi noticed she didn't look well and suggested she rest for a while.
Natalie intended to rest for a bit, but sleep overcame her, and she fell asleep again.
When she opened her eyes again, it was evening.
Perhaps out of consideration for her sleep, the room lights were off, and the door was closed, but the night outside was fully visible.
The night was cool and calm, the city lights just coming on. Outside might be noisy and bustling, but the room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
The contrast between noise and silence felt like two different worlds.
She took a deep breath, feeling that the atmosphere was perfect. She quietly got out of bed and was about to open the door and walk out.
Suddenly, she heard a hushed voice outside the door.
"Mr. Kensington, you've been sitting outside all day without eating. Why don't you go in and rest for a bit?"
It was Demi's voice.
"No need."
Gabriel's voice was unmistakable, cold and detached when speaking to others, with no warmth at all.
Natalie's hand hesitated on the doorknob, but she still opened the door and walked out.
