Chapter 74 New Girlfriend and Ex-Wife
Natalie found herself engrossed in her phone, a grin etched onto her face. Suddenly, a voice rang out from the crowd, "Gabriel." The sound pulled her from her reverie, causing her to instinctively swivel her head towards the source. Her smile faltered as she recognized the face emerging from the exit. It was Alyssa. What were the odds?
Gabriel had brought Brad along to welcome Alyssa. Upon seeing him, Alyssa couldn't contain herself and flung her arms around him, tears streaming down her face. Natalie watched as the two embraced, a sight that was hard to ignore. She had thought she could handle it with grace, but the sight stirred a dull ache in her heart, as if time itself had come to a standstill.
Before she could regain her composure, a pair of arms snaked around her shoulders from behind, pulling her close. The familiar scent that wafted towards her was comforting, and she gently removed the hand covering her eyes.
"Yves," she chided softly, "you're an adult now. Why must you insist on scaring me?" Yves's handsome face came into view, his flawless features a source of envy for many women.
He donned a pair of sunglasses and cocked an eyebrow. "You're becoming quite cheeky. I've been waiting for you."
"Look, it's Yves!" A few people in the crowd recognized him, and a group of girls immediately flocked to his side.
Natalie looked at him in surprise. "Where are your bodyguards?"
"They're enjoying a day off," he replied nonchalantly.
"What are we going to do?"
"You'll have to protect me," Yves declared, entrusting his safety to Natalie.
Natalie was taken aback. As more people recognized Yves, the airport descended into chaos. Yves held Natalie close to prevent her from getting lost in the crowd. Phones and cameras were raised high, the air filled with shouts of Yves's name.
Natalie regretted agreeing to pick up Yves. She lowered her head, trying to shield her face from the intrusive cameras. But it was inevitable; she was recognized by some netizens.
"That's Natalie, Gabriel's ex-wife, in Yves's arms."
"Are they dating?"
The rumors spread like wildfire, and whispers about the celebrities filled the air. Natalie wished she could disappear or turn away, but the sight of countless flashes and faces made her give up.
"What do we do now?" Natalie asked through clenched teeth.
Yves flashed a charming smile at his fans, holding Natalie close as he made his way through the crowd. His fans respectfully made way.
"Thank you for your support. Please, don't scare Natalie."
The crowd erupted in screams. Natalie couldn't hide in Yves's arms any longer. She straightened up, forcing a smile onto her face. Unbeknownst to her, she had just become the center of the most sensational entertainment news.
Out of the corner of her eye, Natalie spotted Gabriel standing by the door with Alyssa, his gaze icy as he watched her and Yves. She paused, her smile shifting from strained to composed.
Gabriel's new girlfriend and his ex-wife had crossed paths. What was he feeling?
Natalie felt a sense of superiority. She didn't need to feel awkward. She was better than them.
As they exited the airport lobby, Yves's fans attempted to follow him. He turned around, placing a finger to his lips. "Go home. I need rest too."
His fans obeyed, their cheers not diminishing, but no one dared to follow him.
"Where's your car?" Yves asked, patting Natalie's head.
Natalie quickly led him to her car. Yves admired it, remarking, "Nice car. I should get one too."
Yves's garage was already filled with a collection of cars. Why would he need another one?
"If you like this car, you can drive it. You'll probably get bored of it soon anyway," Natalie offered. Yves was known to change cars as frequently as he changed clothes.
"I think I saw that bastard Gabriel just now," Yves mentioned casually.
