"Victor is a prodigy, mirroring your own brilliance in your prime. If he's shackled by a woman of this caliber, it could potentially stunt his growth," Blair remarked.
"She's just a woman, how could she possibly impede anything?" Ulysses retorted with a sneer.
Blair shot Natalie a pointed look before continuing, "This woman is far from ordinary. After her divorce, Victor elevated her to the position of Deputy General Manager of the Clark Group. Her authority is second only to Victor's, and it seems she's on the brink of calling the shots in your company. As the chairman, why aren't you taking steps to rein her in?"
Had anyone else heard Blair's audacious words, they might have bristled with indignation. However, Ulysses was far from ordinary.
He chuckled dismissively and replied nonchalantly, "Mr. Kensington, I suggest you focus on your own affairs. I have faith in Victor's judgment. Ah, the fish is biting, I must attend to it."
With that, he ended the call, leaving Blair with a sour expression. He muttered a curse under his breath and shot Natalie a venomous glare, seemingly unwilling to let the matter rest.
"Do you really believe you can evade this predicament so effortlessly? Do you think the Clark family will welcome you with open arms? Ulysses's tactics are far more formidable than you can fathom!" he spat.
Natalie simply smiled, "That's not your concern, anyway..." She paused, her gaze hardening, "I am determined to become a part of the Clark family!"
She was sure she would reveal her true identity in due time, and she was curious to see Blair's reaction.
Blair scoffed, deriding her aspirations. He wanted to say more, but Natalie was no longer interested in entertaining him. She was confident that reaching out to Ulysses was his last resort, and she had no reason to fret.
"Mr. Kensington, if you have no further business, my secretary will escort you out. I have a meeting to attend."
Natalie smiled, her gaze distant yet polite. Angela looked incensed, biting back whatever she wanted to say. Blair, too, was seething. He snorted coldly, "If you choose to ignore my advice, then brace yourself for the consequences!"
Natalie had already dialed the internal line, and Aaron entered the room, standing at attention, "Ms. Clark, how may I assist you?"
"Escort them out."
"Certainly, Mr. Kensington, Ms. Kensington, if you would kindly follow me."
Aaron gestured politely for Blair and Angela to exit. Blair clenched his jaw, his face paling as he stormed out, Angela trailing behind him reluctantly.
As Blair stomped away, he dialed Gabriel, his anger threatening to boil over.
"Natalie was your wife for three years, and I never imagined she could be so ungrateful and despicable. She's too stubborn. You should never have married her!"
Gabriel was surprised. "Did you visit her?" "Of course. I cannot bear the thought of my treasure being in her possession. I confronted her personally, but she refused to relinquish it. She's been deceiving us for three years, I never thought she could be so cruel!"
Gabriel fell silent for a moment, musing, 'She must have tolerated us for three years.'
"Grandfather, I will take care of this matter, I will retrieve it, don't worry."
"You better do, or I won't let her off the hook. And she actually has the audacity to aspire to marry into the Clark family. I believe we can exploit her personal life. I refuse to believe a prestigious family would accept a divorced woman with questionable relationships!"
Gabriel frowned, suddenly irked. Natalie had done nothing wrong and didn't deserve to be slandered. Blair's words deeply annoyed Gabriel. However, the thought of Victor, Charlie, and others hovering around her made Gabriel inexplicably irritable and gloomy. He ended the call and rubbed his forehead. Brad, standing before him, observed his expression nervously, "Mr. Kensington, will the meeting in five minutes proceed as scheduled?"
Gabriel didn't respond, instead fixing Brad with a cold stare, "Brad, what's your opinion of Natalie? Why is there such a stark contrast between her demeanor before and after her divorce?"
Brad hesitated for a moment before deciding to voice his honest thoughts. "Mrs. Kensington... Ms. Clark is a very gentle person."
Gabriel's expression hardened slightly. "Do you often spend time together?"
"No, no. It's just that when you two first got married, I frequently received calls from her. She was always concerned about whether you were eating well, living comfortably. Every time you went on a business trip, she would check the weather forecast in advance, reminding me to prepare suitable clothing and meals for you. Sometimes, she even personally cooked meals to send over. Even though you never returned her calls, she never expressed any anger..."
As Gabriel's expression darkened, Brad wondered if he had misspoken. "Why was I never aware of these things?"
