Chapter 476 You Don't Need To

Natalie sat there, not even glancing at the cup of coffee with the frothy milk on top.

Gabriel, sitting across from her, noticed and slid his untouched coffee towards her.

Natalie looked up, her eyes questioning.

Gabriel chuckled softly, his gaze gentle and flirtatious to an outsider.

"This one's untouched. No milk in it."

Nathan laughed lightly, glancing at his coffee. "Ms. Clark, that one's mine. Are we not being treated well by ApexCorp?"

Briar felt a wave of anxiety crash over her, a heavy weight sinking in her chest.

She hadn't asked; she had assumed.

She had to admit, her competence was at an all-time low.

Natalie smiled faintly, cool and unbothered, twirling the pen in her hand.

"Alright, how about joining us for Yves' play premiere tonight? Interested?"

Nathan replied, "Absolutely. Yves' plays are impossible to get tickets for. Can I bring a plus one?"

Natalie said, "Only one."

Gabriel's voice was clear, "I'll be there too."

Natalie nodded, casually gathering her things. "Let's wrap it up here. We'll discuss the IPO location next time with Mr. Williams. I'm heading out."

Nathan called after her, "Join us for dinner?"

"No, thanks." She declined.

As she stood to leave, she glanced at Briar. "Aaron's going on a business trip. You'll come with me tonight."

It wasn't a request.

Briar couldn't help but glance at Gabriel, feeling both excited and cautious. "Yes, Ms. Clark."

There were always countless opportunities in front of her. Gabriel would notice her eventually.

Natalie didn't care about the expressions of the remaining two and walked out.

In the grand, solemn conference room, only Gabriel and Nathan were left.

Nathan looked at Gabriel's dark expression and couldn't help but laugh, a hint of schadenfreude in his tone.

"Mr. Kensington, I thought your trip was wonderful. Seems like there were some bumps."

Gabriel shot him a cold look, his face devoid of any warmth.

"It's none of your business."

Nathan choked on his words, then stood up with a faint smile, sighing softly.

"Do you think Ms. Clark keeps Briar around on purpose or by accident?"

Nathan's question hit a nerve with Gabriel. He wanted to know too.

But he remained expressionless, lifting his eyes slightly. "Why don't you ask her yourself?"

Nathan, seeing no reaction, wasn't surprised or disappointed.

After all, not everyone had the privilege of seeing Gabriel's missteps, let alone his vulnerability.

Gabriel stood up calmly, leaning on his cane, limping out with an air of unapproachability.

Leaving the conference room, he walked to the elevator but didn't get in.

Briar, standing nearby, pressed the elevator button for him. "Mr. Kensington..."

She desperately wanted him to notice her.

Gabriel said nothing.

The elevator arrived, but no one got in.

He spoke, "Where's Ms. Clark?"

His tone was that of addressing a regular subordinate.

Briar's face stiffened, but she pointed to the nearby office.

"She's in the office with Dax."

Gabriel said nothing, heading straight to the office to wait.

Briar lowered her eyes, hiding her disappointment, then went to the break room to get a cup of coffee and brought it over.

Gabriel frowned.

"You're not my assistant."

The implication was that she was overstepping her role.

Briar bit her lip, her voice soft and slightly ingratiating.

"Mr. Kensington, it's my first time attending a play premiere. Is there anything I should know?"

Gabriel replied, "You don't need to."

She was just an assistant. What was there to prepare for?

Briar's smile turned awkward.
