Chapter 10 Why Didn't Mom Want to See Him?
The four of them went straight back to the villa.
Riley and the two children were hungry, so they finished all the food Harper brought back.
After eating, the two children went upstairs to take a bath.
Harper looked meaningfully at her friend, "I don't understand why you're avoiding Donovan. Didn't you both agree to get a divorce? Why are you so afraid of him now? And what really happened for you to get a divorce? You never told me what happened a few years ago."
Meeting her gaze, Riley instinctively lowered her head, hesitated for a while, and reluctantly explained the situation back then.
"Riley, you have guts!"
Harper didn't expect her friend to have the courage to drug Donovan and secretly get pregnant with his child.
No wonder she wanted to run away as soon as she heard Donovan's name today!
Riley bit her lip bitterly, "I don't want him to know about Landon and Winston's existence, and I'm afraid he'll get angry about drugging him. With his status, it's too easy for him to retaliate against me. If it were just me, maybe I wouldn't be afraid of him, but now I have two children with me."
After saying that, she chuckled self-deprecatingly, "Maybe I'm overthinking it. Perhaps he doesn't even care about that incident. After all, I'm not an important person to him."
"That's not necessarily true!"
Harper furrowed her brow. "I think he might have recognized your voice. When he first came in, he asked where you were. It seemed like he came to settle a score with you!"
Upon hearing this, Riley felt a pang in her heart. Indeed, for him, there was only the hatred left from that night.
Seeing her friend upset, Harper comforted her. "Don't worry too much. H City is big, and your work is unrelated. You might not even cross paths."
Riley nodded slightly, hoping it would be that way.
"Mommy!"
Suddenly, they heard the voice of Landon Winston.
Riley and Harper quickly stopped talking and looked at the staircase.
The two kids had just finished bathing. Their hair was wet, their fair skin still had undried water droplets. Each of them wore a cow-patterned pajama, coming down the stairs.
Approaching the two, looking up with wide eyes, they asked, "What are you talking about?"
Harper couldn't think of anything else when she saw how cute the two children were. She immediately crouched down, hugging each of them. "You're so adorable! Will you come home with your god-mother? Your god-mother loves you so much!"
Landon and Winston couldn't say a word as she rubbed their cheeks.
Riley found it amusing.
She quickly rescued her two sons from her friend's clutches and then remembered another matter.
"I almost forgot. This trip back to the country was rushed, and I'll be busy with follow-up work. I couldn't bring Landon Winston with me. I wanted to ask you if there's a suitable kindergarten nearby where they can go to school. Also, I need to find a nanny."
The two children didn't say anything upon hearing their mother's words.
With their intelligence, they didn't need to go to kindergarten.
However, their mother was indeed very busy, so they had to cooperate.
After listening, Harper pondered for a moment. "There's actually a great place for kindergartens nearby!"
Riley looked at her friend. "Tell me about it."
"There's a prestigious kindergarten in the area that's highly regarded in H City. The curriculum is rich and they can learn multiple languages. The teachers are excellent, and many wealthy families send their children there. So, you don't have to worry about your kids getting bullied there."
Harper introduced.
After hearing this, Riley immediately said, "Really? I'll look it up online. If everything checks out, I'll send them there."
