Chapter 406 Remain Vague
Meanwhile, even though Dalton was in H City, he got an invite from Harold too.
Dalton was swamped with work at the Benedict Group and couldn't make it. But he thought Donovan might be interested, so he called him up right after hanging up.
As soon as Donovan picked up, he jumped in, "Has Riley arrived?"
Dalton paused, a teasing grin spreading across his face, "Yep, and the business partner in S City has invited Dr. Monroe to tonight's shindig. Dr. Monroe's already said yes."
Donovan's brow furrowed slightly, and he replied in a deep voice, "Got it."
Before Dalton could say anything else, Donovan hung up.
Dalton stared at the darkened phone screen, raising an eyebrow with a smirk.
Even though Donovan didn't spell it out, Dalton could bet Donovan would show up at the banquet tonight.
Over in S City, Donovan hung up the phone just as there was a knock at the door.
The business partner of the Wilder Group walked in with a smile. "Mr. Wilder, about our contract..."
It was a real headache. They had found a flaw in the Wilder Group's project and planned to exploit it, but to their surprise, Donovan showed up.
Not only did they fail to gain any advantage, but Donovan also pointed out several issues without batting an eye, almost causing them to lose the partnership with the Wilder Group.
Over the past couple of days, Donovan had been polite but vague about the collaboration.
The person in charge had practically bent over backward, revising the contract terms to Donovan's liking, but still couldn't get his approval.
But his company wasn't ready to give up on the partnership with the Wilder Group.
Even with zero profit, teaming up with the Wilder Group would be a future selling point to boost the company's status.
The only silver lining was that Donovan hadn't approved their proposal, but he hadn't rejected it either, so there was still a chance.
Because of this slim hope, the project manager reported to Donovan daily, asking for his thoughts. Today was no different.
Donovan stood with one hand in his pocket, looking down at the person in front of him.
The person in charge lowered his head slightly, looking very cautious.
After a long silence, the person in charge felt desperate but didn't dare to push.
"I remember your company is pretty big in S City," Donovan said slowly.
The person in charge quickly replied, "Our company is the top-ranked in this industry in S City."
He glanced nervously at Donovan, worried he might have found a new partner.
Donovan nodded in satisfaction and continued, "I heard the Rogers Group is having a banquet tonight. Is your company planning to attend?"
The person in charge instinctively replied, "Well... our company doesn't deal in the pharmaceutical industry, so the Rogers Group didn't invite us this time."
As soon as he finished speaking, he felt Donovan's questioning gaze on him.
The person in charge quickly added, "But if we take the initiative, the Rogers Group wouldn't turn us away."
Donovan nodded noncommittally and said, "Have your boss bring the contract tonight."
The implication was clear: he would sign the contract at the banquet.
The person in charge was overjoyed and quickly agreed, then rushed back to the company to relay Donovan's message to the higher-ups.
