Chapter 257 This Is Your Honor
After their meal, Riley prepared to depart, but the children were entranced by the breathtaking panorama outside the restaurant, their feet rooted to the spot.
Riley looked around.
Being on a mountain, the botanical garden was simpler than the city, with fewer lights.
The full moon hung in the sky, casting a gentle glow through the trees. The plants looked beautiful in the moonlight.
Many parents were strolling with their kids.
"Mommy, let's go for a walk too!" Winston tugged at Riley's hand.
Riley, enjoying the rare leisure and the lovely view, turned to Donovan and said, "I'll take the kids for a walk. Mr. Wilder, you can take Finley back first."
She let go of Finley's hand, but Finley clung tightly to her.
With no choice, Riley took Finley along.
Wandering into a quieter area, Winston looked at the tall trees and excitedly suggested, "Mommy, let's play hide and seek!"
Riley smiled and agreed, "Okay, but don't run too far. It's not safe."
Winston nodded obediently.
Riley planned to take Finley along to find them, but Finley seemed eager to play too.
Finley had never played hide and seek before, so she was thrilled by Winston's suggestion.
Riley told the kids to take good care of Finley, then closed her eyes to let them hide.
"Are you hidden? I'm going to start looking!" Riley called out after counting.
Finley's little voice came from behind a tree, "Ready!"
Riley couldn't help but laugh.
Even though she knew where they were hiding, she pretended to search everywhere.
"Are you... the twins' mom?" a woman's voice interrupted.
Riley looked up to see a tall, elegantly dressed woman holding a little girl's hand, looking at her with a seemingly friendly expression.
Sensing ill intentions, Riley became wary. "Yes, I am. And you are?"
The woman gave her a disdainful look. "Who I am isn't important. I just wanted to remind you of something, and I hope you keep it in mind."
Riley frowned slightly.
"Finley is Mr. Wilder's daughter. She gets along well with your kids, which makes Mr. Wilder think highly of you. This is your good fortune."
The woman's tone turned cold, "But you should know your place. Just because Mr. Wilder is close to you doesn't mean you have a chance. He's only doing this for the kids. Don't think you can easily gain status."
Riley felt a headache coming on.
She knew meeting Donovan here would lead to gossip, but she didn't expect it so soon.
"I think you might have misunderstood something..." Riley said calmly.
The woman interrupted disdainfully. "Misunderstood? Everyone saw how close you were to Mr. Wilder today. You should recognize your status. Mr. Wilder's fiancée is Miss Sutton, and their relationship is very good. Don't humiliate yourself!"
