Chapter 38 Is this Woman Married?
Riley couldn't help but pause for a moment, then looked at Donovan with some concern.
She hadn't been honest about Finley getting lost last time.
However, she probably couldn't hide it from this man either.
With that in mind, Riley hesitated and opened her mouth, "Probably. It's because I helped her before. The last time she got lost, I found her."
Dalton didn't expect this to be the case. He looked at Finley, then at Riley, and sighed, "You two are really destined to meet."
Destined?
Riley thought about Finley's identity and involuntarily pursed her lips, looking up with a relaxed expression, "Maybe."
Dalton didn't notice her strange reaction, stood up, and suggested, "Since my grandfather will take another hour, why don't we wait downstairs and have a drink. Thank you so much, Dr. Monroe."
Relieved that he changed the subject, Riley agreed.
Donovan walked around from behind the hospital bed, prepared to hug Finley, but realized that the little girl didn't seem to want to approach him.
After handing Riley the handkerchief, Finley stayed by her side. When she heard they were going downstairs, she reached out, wanting to hold the beautiful lady's hand.
Last time they met, the beautiful lady held her hand like this.
Just as her small hand was about to touch Riley's hand, a cell phone rang in the room.
Riley turned around to get her phone from her bag, and her fingertips accidentally brushed against Finley's hand as she slid it open.
Finley had mustered up the courage, but ended up not catching the person's hand. She blinked her eyes slowly with a bit of disappointment, lowered her gaze, and started playing with her own fingers.
Donovan witnessed this scene, seeing the missed connection between the two, and his gaze grew slightly dim.
Riley picked up the phone, looked at the caller ID, and saw that it was Harper calling.
Tonight, because she had an appointment with the Benedict family, she had entrusted the two kids to her friend.
Upon receiving her call, Riley thought that something had happened to the two kids and quickly answered it.
While swiping on the screen, her fingertip accidentally clicked on the speaker.
Unaware of it, Riley said, "Hello."
The next second, two soft and adorable voices echoed in the air, "Mommy, when are you coming back?"
Riley was startled and quickly covered the speaker, turning off the speaker.
The voices of the two children disappeared accordingly.
Nevertheless, Riley still felt her heart pounding heavily, and she was very nervous. Subconsciously, she glanced at Donovan who was beside her.
Her first reaction was fearing that Donovan would find out about the existence of the two children.
However, Donovan's face darkened, and his gaze turned colder.
He clearly heard the voice on the other side of the phone just now.
It was a little boy calling Riley "mommy."
This woman was married???
Realizing this, a surge of anger rushed out from the depths of his heart.
Donovan clenched his teeth tightly and forced himself to stay calm.
Only in this way could he restrain the impulse to press this woman against the wall and interrogate her!
Dalton was completely unaware of the strange tension between the two of them. He smiled and asked, "Dr. Monroe, are you married?"
Riley's mind was in chaos and she nodded vaguely.
Dalton sighed and said, "I can't believe you even have children. It's really unexpected."
Riley apologized, "I'm sorry, I have to take a call outside."
After speaking, without looking at Donovan's expression and without turning back, she left the room.
