Chapter 263 I'm Teaming Up with Riley

Riley got three saplings and thought about planting one with the kids.

The kids were super excited, having woken up early like it was a big event.

Riley didn't want to disappoint them.

After getting the saplings, they started digging holes with the staff's help.

The kids were really into it.

Riley had even changed into sportswear to match the kids and make it easier to work.

Together, they quickly dug the first hole.

Just as they were about to start the second, Riley heard a sweet little voice.

"Riley!" Finley stood there, looking excited.

Riley paused and looked at her, surprised. "Finley, what are you doing here?"

Finley should've been in the opposite direction.

Finley replied innocently, "I'm in your group."

Riley was confused.

In her group? What did that mean?

Just then, Donovan walked over and said, "Finley can't be away from you guys. I told Zoey that Finley wanted to be with Landon and Winston. Zoey asked us to team up with your group first. Ms. Monroe won't mind, right?"

Riley frowned.

Of course, she minded.

Donovan standing there already drew a lot of attention.

If anything else happened, who knew if another woman like last night would show up.

She stayed silent for a moment. Finley's eyes dimmed, turning red. "Riley..."

Seeing Finley's disappointed face, Riley's heart softened. "Since Finley likes playing with the big brothers so much, let's do it together."

Having said that, she had the kids make room for Finley.

The three saplings were just enough for the kids.

It was their first time doing this, and with Riley there, they were super excited.

Landon and Winston, being stronger, found it easy.

Finley struggled a bit and soon got covered in dirt.

But she didn't get upset; she kept digging with a big smile.

Seeing Finley looking like a cat in mud, Riley laughed and helped her dig.

Next, they placed the sapling in and filled it with soil.

Riley helped the kids secure the saplings and watched them use small shovels to fill the soil.

Donovan grabbed a staff member's shovel and joined in.

It was the kids' first time using such tools, their handling clumsy and resulting in scant dirt with each scoop, their arms trembling incessantly. By the time they reached the pit, the shovel held only little soil.

Riley wasn't in a hurry, knowing Donovan was there to help.

But the soil in the hole was increasing painfully slowly.

Seeing this, Riley looked up at Donovan, confused.

Watching him use the shovel, she found it amusing.

She almost forgot, with Donovan's status, how could he have ever used such a tool?

Plus, his trench coat and leather shoes were totally out of place for this activity.

Compared to the kids, Donovan wasn't much better.

The only advantage he had was a bigger shovel, so each time there was a bit more soil.
