Chapter 268 Please Don't Make It Difficult for Me
Winston heard the praise for Hollis and grumbled.
Riley snapped out of it and looked at Winston, confused. "What's up?"
Winston poked at his rice and muttered, "I don't like Hollis."
Riley was surprised. "Why?"
The kid had only met Hollis twice. Why the strong dislike?
Winston glanced at his mom, wanting to say that his dad left them because of Hollis, who was set to marry him.
But he remembered his mom didn't know they had figured out their true parentage. He pouted and said, "Because Hollis is mean to Finley, and Finley doesn't like her."
Mentioning Finley made Riley's heart ache, but she just smiled at the kids. "How could that be? She'll be Finley's mom soon. Don't overthink it, just eat."
Winston reluctantly lowered his head, silently grumbling about his dad.
What did Hollis have that was better than their mom?
After lunch, Zoey suggested a walk.
Riley took the kids out, noticing they were still down. She thought a walk might cheer them up. "Why don't you show me where you hid last night? I still don't know how you found it."
Talking about last night's hide-and-seek perked them up a bit, and they got ready to show Riley.
They had just started walking when they heard Finley's little voice.
"Riley..."
Without Riley and stuck with Hollis, Finley was in a bad mood and hadn't eaten much. Seeing Riley, she finally smiled.
Riley turned and saw Donovan and Hollis behind Finley. Seeing how well-matched they looked, she quickly looked away.
Landon and Winston saw them too and tugged at Riley's hand. "Mommy, let's go!"
They didn't want to see their dad and Hollis together.
Riley nodded and looked at Finley. "I'm taking the boys for a walk. Be good and stay with your daddy."
She patted Finley's head and left with the boys.
Finley watched them leave, hoping Riley would turn back. She tugged at her dad's sleeve.
Donovan frowned and called out, "Ms. Monroe, if you don't mind, shall we go together?"
Riley stopped and looked at Donovan coldly. "I don't mind walking with you and Miss Sutton, but I don't want to intrude. Please don't make it hard for me."
Without waiting for a response, she quickly walked away with the boys.
Watching them leave, Donovan's face turned cold. Riley always knew how to push his buttons.
Unexpectedly abandoned by Riley and disliking the presence of Hollis beside her, Finley's lips quivered, her eyes welled up with tears, seemingly on the brink of shedding them at any moment.
