Chapter 82 Why Care So Much About Her
Upon reaching the living room, Riley was pressed to sit on the sofa.
The three children sat down next to Riley like little tails, anxiously watching her fingertips wrapped in a handkerchief.
Donovan began searching for the first aid kit in the living room.
Finally, Landon got off the sofa, retrieved the first aid kit from under the TV cabinet, and handed it to Donovan.
Donovan patted Landon's head and held the first aid kit next to Riley.
The three children made way for him.
Donovan sat down next to Riley with blank expression, exuding a sense of low pressure around him, yet his movements seemed somewhat gentle.
Riley glanced down for a few seconds, then couldn't help but look away, pretending to look calmly at the floor.
If she looked any longer, Riley was afraid she might get unnecessary misunderstandings.
'He obviously hates me. Why is he so concerned about me?' she thought.
After applying the medicine, Donovan took out a band-aid and placed it on Riley's wound.
Riley noticed Donovan finally releasing her hand and breathed a sigh of relief. She stood up to distance herself from Donovan then she thanked him softly, "Thank you."
Upon hearing this, Donovan furrowed his brow slightly, remaining silent.
Riley glanced back at the mess on the kitchen floor, then turned to go in and continue cleaning up.
"What are you doing?" Donovan's angry voice sounded in her ear.
Riley couldn't help but pause, explaining, "The floor hasn't been cleaned up yet, and I'm afraid the children might step on it."
As her words fell, Donovan's expression darkened.
Donovan couldn't believe that despite Riley's impressive resume, she couldn't even take care of herself!
Seeing Donovan's grim expression, Riley frowned slightly, unsure of what she had done wrong again.
'Did I create trouble for him?' she thought.
Thinking for a moment, Riley was about to apologize when Donovan spoke again.
"Your wound has just been treated and it can't get wet. I'll find a housekeeper for you."
With that, Donovan didn't give Riley a chance to respond and immediately called Paxton.
On the other end, Paxton had just finished dinner and was about to go to bed when he received Donovan's call, answering it nervously.
"Find a housekeeper and have them at Pixel Haven 32 within half an hour."
Paxton was taken aback, about to ask more questions, but the call had already been hung up.
Staring at the darkened phone screen, Paxton contacted the housekeeping company in confusion, then personally took the housekeeper to the address Donovan had specified.
"Sit and wait," Donovan said sternly to Riley.
Seeing that Donovan had arranged for a housekeeper, Riley didn't insist and found a seat a distance away from him.
The three children were separated from Donovan and Riley, looking at each other without speaking.
The atmosphere in the living room became somewhat tense for a moment.
About twenty minutes later, the doorbell broke the tense atmosphere in the living room.
Riley was about to get up to answer the door when Donovan had already walked over.
"Mr. Wilder." Paxton stood at the door with a middle-aged woman with short hair.
Donovan stepped aside to let them in.
Soon, the housekeeper cleaned up the kitchen spotlessly, chatting warmly with the three little ones during the process.
The children were delighted by the housekeeper's presence, laughing uncontrollably.
Seeing how much the children enjoyed the housekeeper's company, Riley's heart stirred, and she took the initiative to ask, "Excuse me, would you be interested in working here long-term, mainly taking care of the children and occasionally doing some cleaning. The salary will be up to you."
The woman, gladly agreed, "No problem, I really like children. My name is Sophie Anderson."
