Chapter 405 A Mutually Beneficial Arrangement
Two days later, Riley hopped on an early morning flight to S City, just as planned.
Like Dalton said, she spotted someone holding a sign with her name at the airport pick-up area.
After Riley walked up to him, she introduced herself and followed him out of the airport.
"Mr. Rogers has already booked a hotel for you. Do you want to head there first, or should we go straight to the company?" the driver asked once they were in the car.
Riley didn't have much luggage, so she thought for a second and said, "If Mr. Rogers is available, we can go to the company first."
She wanted to get down to business right away.
The driver nodded and started driving to the company, calling Harold Rogers on the way to let him know.
When Riley got to the company, Harold was already waiting in his office.
"Dr. Monroe, it's great to finally meet you." Harold stood up to shake her hand as she walked in.
Riley shook his hand and greeted him politely.
After some small talk, Riley got straight to the point.
"Mr. Rogers, I'm here today to..."
Before she could finish, Harold cut in, "I know, you're here to discuss a collaboration. No rush on that, though. I'm not the only one involved."
Riley was a bit surprised, thinking there might be some changes. She hesitated and said, "I've got the collaboration proposal ready. Do you want to take a look first? We can go over any issues."
Harold smiled and waved it off, "It's not what you think. Since Mr. Benedict recommended you, we're definitely on board. What I mean is, we are having a banquet at the company tonight, and several other company reps will be there. If you're not in a hurry, we can talk over dinner."
Riley felt relieved but still had some concerns, "I don't mind, but about the banquet tonight..."
She was new here and didn't know anyone at the company. Attending the banquet might be a bit awkward.
Harold, unaware of her thoughts, continued, "Mr. Benedict mentioned that Dr. Monroe has quite a reputation internationally. Having you at our banquet would be an honor. There will be many prominent figures from the medical field across the country. You might even meet some new partners. It would be a win-win for both of us!"
When Dalton recommended Riley, Harold had already checked her background. He knew she had made a name for herself at an academic exchange in North City. Many prominent figures in the medical field would be at the banquet, and some of them might know Riley.
That's why Harold thought of this idea.
Inviting Riley to the banquet would not only show off his connections but also show respect to both Dalton and Riley.
Hearing this, Riley couldn't refuse any longer and nodded, "Since you put it that way, I'll bring the document with me tonight."
Harold quickly stopped her, "No need for that. We can just chat informally tonight. Since you're not in a hurry, we can sign the papers tomorrow."
Riley hesitated for a moment but eventually agreed.
Harold told her the time and place of the banquet and then had the driver take Riley to the hotel.
