Chapter 80 He Wouldn't Fall For It

Seeing that his Daddy ate the celery from Landon, Winston's eyes lit up, and he also handed Donovan a plate of celery.

Of course, he didn't think as much as Landon did. He only passed the nearest plate of celery to Donovan, then looked at him with anticipation.

Noticing that Winston also handed him a plate of celery, Donovan thought he was also trying to give him a hard time. However, seeing the look in Winston's eyes, he smiled and said, "Thank you. Here, have some, too."

With that, he pushed a plate of fish toward Winston. He remembered Winston saying he didn't like salads, so he had kept that in mind.

Winston's eyes widened in surprise. "Thank you! I will!"

His daddy gave him a plate of fish! How nice!

Watching this interaction from the side, Landon couldn't help but sneer.

How foolish of Winston! Donovan was clearly trying to bribe him, but he was completely oblivious to it!

Landon was certain he would never fall for it!

Dinner ended in a strange atmosphere. Riley got up and started to clean the table.

Out of politeness, Donovan helped her with the cutleries in silence but was suddenly at a loss about what to do next.

Logically, he should bring Finley back once dinner ended. However, since they had helped him, it didn't seem appropriate to leave just like that.

"I'll do it. Please go look after the kids," Riley said calmly, sensing his awkwardness.

After a faint nod, Donovan turned around and headed for the living room.

Finley, Landon, and Winston were building Lego where they had left off last time.

They had already finished one part, but the part where assembling was required was a little too high for their heights. In the past, it had always been Riley who helped them assemble the parts after they were done with the smaller parts.

Now that Riley was washing the dishes, the three kids began to find an alternative. Landon scanned the room and was about to bring over a chair from the dining room.

"Give it to me." Donovan's voice sounded. He happened to have just left the kitchen and caught sight of their situation, and he did his best to put on a gentle expression.

Landon hesitated for a few seconds and handed the assembled parts to Donovan's large hand.

Donovan took them, following the little guy's instructions, and assembled the parts in his hand.

"Thank you," Landon awkwardly thanked him.

Donovan raised an eyebrow, nodded noncommittally, and stood with one hand in his pocket, watching the three little guys happily assembling LEGO sets, occasionally helping them out.

In the kitchen, Riley absentmindedly washed dishes, her attention always on the people outside, even regretting a bit for letting Donovan stay so long; she should have sent him back after dinner.

Landon and Winston had already spoken to Donovan last time, so letting them be alone together now made Riley feel uneasy. Especially when she saw how harmoniously they were getting along outside.

Riley was afraid that Landon and Winston might say something they shouldn't. If Donovan found out that the two little guys were his children...

A sense of panic crossed Riley's mind. She couldn't guarantee that Donovan wouldn't just take them away from her. In her current position, it would be a piece of cake for Donovan to snatch the two little guys away from her.

Riley couldn't even imagine what her feelings would be like then, let alone what Landon and Winston would become if they left her.

The more Riley thought about it, the more frightened she felt. Unconsciously, the dishes slipped from her hands, and when she realized it, she only heard a crisp sound of glass shattering beside her. In the living room, the four of them were startled, and all looked towards the kitchen.
