Chapter 267 Will It Really Be Good for Finley?

"What are you doing here?" Donovan asked flatly, leading Hollis to the grove's edge.

Hollis looked worriedly at Finley in her arms. "I was worried about Finley, so I came to check on her. I promise I won't cause any trouble."

Donovan's voice was cold. "You've seen her. Finley's fine. If there's nothing else, you can leave."

Hollis's face tightened. "Donovan, I came all this way. At least let me have a meal before I go."

She lowered her head, murmuring, "I know you're still mad about what happened with Finley, but I didn't mean it. I've treated her like my own for years. I would never hurt her intentionally. You already punished me. I know I was wrong. Please forgive me."

Donovan's expression grew colder. "You should apologize to Finley, not me."

Hollis looked at Finley again. The child squirmed uncomfortably in her arms but couldn't break free.

When Hollis finally loosened her grip, Finley reached out to her dad. Donovan took her back into his arms.

"It's right for Finley to blame me. I'll prove over time that I mean no harm," Hollis said, glancing at Donovan. "Will you give me that chance?"

She was hinting at their wedding.

Donovan caught her hint, his expression unreadable. "It's almost lunchtime. After lunch, you can go back."

A hint of disappointment flickered across Hollis' face, but she quickly mustered a smile and nodded.

At lunchtime, Donovan took Finley to get food, with Hollis trailing behind.

Not used to queuing, she soon found herself at the end of the line after being pushed around by the parents eager to get food for their kids.

Eager to get back to Donovan, she was surrounded by a few parents.

"Miss Sutton, you and Mr. Wilder have such a good relationship. You even came all this way for Finley," several parents fawned.

Hollis smiled, pleased. "It's what I should do."

She glanced shyly at Donovan.

"We've heard you're beautiful, Miss Sutton. Seeing you in person, we see it's true. You and Mr. Wilder are a perfect match!"

"Finley usually isn't close to people, but she was so well-behaved in your arms. She must really like you."

Riley, sitting in a corner with two kids, overheard the praise for Hollis. She frowned, feeling uneasy.

She glanced at Finley holding Donovan's hand and felt another wave of doubt.

Hollis had been harsh to Finley before. Could she really be good to her now? Finley still seemed so afraid of her...
