Chapter 120: Must Protect Little Sister
Seeing them leave, Donovan strode after them.
Finding the exit wasn't difficult. However, Riley had panicked earlier, causing her to run around aimlessly and become lost.
Now that she had regained her composure, it didn't take them long to exit the haunted house.
The bright sunlight shining on her face made Riley feel slightly dizzy.
Donovan followed closely behind her, his gaze fixed on her.
Both had different thoughts in their minds.
Harper sensed the tension between them and discreetly pulled Riley aside, whispering in her ear, "What's happening? What did he ask you to help with?"
Riley snapped back to reality and instinctively looked at Donovan, who was nearby, noting the anxiety and concern written on his face.
She thought back to what Donovan had said in the haunted house.
It didn't seem like he was lying.
Thinking of this, Riley couldn't help but worry about Finley.
Initially, when she believed Finley was Donovan and Hollis's child, she couldn't help but feel fond of the little girl. Now that she knew Finley had no connection to Hollis, she felt even more sympathetic towards her.
"Nothing, just some personal matters," Riley said to her with a slight smile.
Harper still looked suspicious.
‘What personal matters could there be between the two of them that would prompt Donovan to come all the way here?" she pondered.
She was about to inquire further, but Riley had already moved towards Donovan. Harper felt even more perplexed.
Seeing Riley walking toward him, Donovan furrowed his brow slightly, wanting to continue asking for her help.
But Riley had already spoken, "I'll go with you."
As soon as she said that, Donovan felt a huge sense of relief and nodded in thanks. "Thank you."
Deciding to assess Finley's situation, Riley took the two young ones from Harper and said, "You go back first. I'll take them with me."
Riley was aware of Finley's strong bond with the two children, and she believed that bringing them along could be beneficial.
Harper couldn't ask any more questions and watched as the four of them left, looking like a family.
They had brought only one car, which they left for Harper to use. Upon leaving the Adventure Park, Riley took the little ones and got into Donovan's car.
Paxton was already waiting in the car. As they entered, he slowly started the car and drove towards the Wilder family estate.
Along the way, Donovan briefly explained Finley's situation and the treatments she had undergone over the years to Riley.
Hearing that Finley had developed psychological issues at such a young age and had gone through so much hardship over the years, Riley felt a pang of heartache.
Moreover, according to Donovan, Finley's current episode was more severe than any before.
Thinking of this, Riley even felt a bit guilty.
Had she known earlier about the severity of Finley's condition, she would never have brought up those topics in front of her.
The two young children sat quietly beside their mother, and as they listened to Donovan, their initial resentment towards him gradually transformed into sympathy for their younger sister.
Despite being the same age as them, she had faced numerous challenges and even experienced exclusion at kindergarten. They made a silent vow to protect their little sister from that moment on.
Paxton drove quickly, and before long, they arrived at the estate.
Getting out of the car, Donovan guided Riley and the two children directly to the second floor.
Alexander remained upstairs, monitoring Finley from the doorway to prevent any potential harm.
Upon seeing them, Alexander raised an eyebrow and greeted Riley, "Ms. Monroe." Riley returned the nod, her attention fixed on Finley.
"Where's Finley? I'd like to see her." In response, Alexander raised his hand and pointed to a corner of the room.
