Chapter 269 I Want to Go Back to My Room

"Riley..."

Riley disappeared. Finley, teary-eyed, whimpered, "I want Riley..."

Donovan, already annoyed by Riley's earlier comments, frowned. "Riley has her own kids, Finley. You can't always bother her."

Finley glared at her dad.

Donovan frowned back, both of them stubborn.

Eventually, Finley gave in, pouting. She figured Riley would have to come back to pack her stuff anyway.

"I want to go back to the room," Finley said.

Donovan, thinking she was just uncomfortable around so many people, agreed without much thought.

Hollis, sensing an excuse for her to stay, leaned in and gently touched Finley's head before Donovan could speak. "Are you feeling unwell? Why do you suddenly want to go back?"

Finley pursed her lips, ignoring her.

Hollis took it as a yes and stood up, addressing Donovan, "If Finley's not well, I can't just leave. How about I go back with you to help?"

Donovan, remembering Riley's distance whenever Hollis was mentioned, turned cold. "No need. I can handle it. You should head back down the mountain."

Hollis, expecting his refusal, smiled. "If Finley's unwell, Catherine would worry. She'd blame me if I just left. Plus, I still feel bad about last time. Let me make it up to her."

Donovan frowned but stayed silent.

"If I can't make it up to Finley, I won't feel right," Hollis said, feigning guilt.

Finley, eager to wait for Riley, urged, "Daddy, let's go back!"

Thinking Finley was really unwell, Donovan picked her up and headed to the botanical garden's entrance.

Hollis followed without a word.

Donovan informed Zoey briefly and took Finley back to the hotel.

Hollis tagged along, but Donovan ignored her.

Back at the hotel, Donovan placed Finley on the bed and was about to call Alexander for advice.

But Finley jumped off the bed and ran to Riley's bed.

Donovan, realizing she just wanted to wait for Riley and the boys, was momentarily stunned.

Sitting on Riley's bed, Finley felt much better, her eyes bright with anticipation.
