Chapter 184 The Surgery Begins

"If there's no problem, I can free up some time tomorrow to go to the hospital and check on the patient."

Riley thought about her work schedule for the next few days and suggested.

Adam snapped out of his thoughts and quickly nodded in agreement. "Great, I appreciate it. If you need anything in the future, just let me know."

Riley smiled and replied, "You've helped me a lot abroad, and treating patients is a doctor's duty. Since you think I can do it, I won't hesitate."

They briefly discussed and set a time for Riley to visit the patient.

The next day at noon, Riley finished her work at the research institute and directly arranged to meet Adam at the hospital entrance.

"I've already informed my family. Today, besides me, no one else will be staying with the patient, so don't feel pressured."

After they met, Adam took Riley to the ward. On the hospital bed lay the elderly man in a coma, whose hair had been completely shaved off.

Due to the sudden nature of his illness, his complexion didn't appear particularly pale. Instead, he looked more like an elderly person peacefully asleep.

"Are you... Janet?" In the ward, several specialists responsible for the patient's condition were already waiting.

Before Adam arrived, he had introduced Riley's identity to them. They had long heard of Janet's reputation, and seeing the young woman behind Adam, the seasoned doctors were somewhat skeptical of their eyes.

Riley nodded slightly and looked at the person on the bed. "Sorry, now is not the time for pleasantries. Please introduce the patient's condition to me, and I also need to conduct a few more tests."

Seeing Riley's professional demeanor, the specialists looked to Adam for confirmation.

Adam nodded.

With Adam's endorsement, the specialists quickly began to cooperate with Riley's work, showing her the patient's various test reports and assisting Riley in conducting several tests on him.

After a busy afternoon, Riley finally had a thorough understanding of the patient's condition, and she couldn't help but feel a bit heavy-hearted.

She had to admit, the elderly man's condition was quite tricky, even for her.

"Do you have confidence?" Adam asked with concern.

Riley's expression turned serious. "I need some time. The patient's body can hold on for two more days. During these two days, I need to hold a seminar."

Adam trusted her completely and agreed on the spot.

For the next two days, Riley spent almost all her time in the hospital. After two days of research with several senior neurosurgeons, they came up with a new surgical plan, but the success rate was only about forty percent.

On the day of the surgery, Riley sent the kids to kindergarten early in the morning and then rushed to the hospital to confirm the surgical procedure with the other specialists before starting the pre-surgery preparations.

The surgery was scheduled to start at 1 PM. If everything went smoothly, it would take no more than five to six hours, just in time for her to pick up the kids.

With this in mind, Riley didn't specifically ask Auntie to pick up them.

At 1 PM, the surgery officially began.

Riley and the other specialists conducted the surgery in an orderly manner in the operating room.

For the forty percent success rate, they gave it their all.

However, the patient's age was indeed quite advanced, leading to unexpected complications during the surgery.

The specialists encountered such a situation for the first time and were momentarily at a loss.

Riley was also a bit flustered but forced herself to stay calm and continued with the surgery.
