Chapter 247 A Gift from Daddy
After Donovan got back from North City, he went straight to the Wilder Group. By the time he finished two days' worth of work, it was already evening.
When he got home, he saw Finley drawing at the living room table.
Finley put down her pen and walked over when she saw him.
Donovan bent down and patted her head. "Did you miss Daddy?"
Finley nodded.
Donovan smiled and called Olivia to check on Finley's diet and daily routine over the past two days. Hearing she had been well-behaved, he felt relieved.
After greeting him, Finley went back to her drawing.
Donovan walked over to take a look. The drawing showed five people: two little boys with a woman in a dress, and a little girl with a tall man in black.
He immediately knew who Finley had drawn.
Thinking about the past two days with Riley, Donovan's mood darkened. Riley clearly wanted to keep her distance, but she was always soft-hearted with Finley.
Watching Finley finish her drawing, Donovan took out two figurines from the study, which he had bought along with some Legos for the kids, and placed them in front of her.
Finley looked confused.
"Daddy got these for Landon and Winston. Can you give them to Landon and Winston tomorrow as a thank you for looking after you in kindergarten?" Donovan said casually.
Finley's eyes lit up, and she nodded eagerly.
The following morning, Riley, eager to avoid Donovan, arrived at kindergarten with the children ahead of schedule.
Donovan knew Riley would ignore him if he tried to intercept her, so he took Finley to kindergarten at the usual time.
Finley seemed a bit disappointed not seeing Riley, but she felt excited holding the two figurines.
When she walked into the classroom, she saw Landon and Winston already there. She smiled and greeted them, "Good morning, Landon and Winston."
Following their mom's instructions, Landon and Winston took good care of Finley. They smiled and greeted her back.
Finley stood on tiptoe and placed the two boxes on the table, looking eagerly at the boys.
"What are these?" Landon and Winston recognized the limited edition figurines but were puzzled by Finley's intention.
Finley smiled sweetly. "Daddy gave them to you!"
Hearing they were from Donovan, the boys frowned. They liked the figurines but hesitated to accept them.
Finley knew they liked figurines from seeing their room. Seeing them hesitate, she pushed the boxes closer. "You like them."
Landon and Winston tried to deny it but couldn't. They said, "These are too expensive. Mommy won't let us accept them."
Finley didn't expect the rejection and looked like she might cry.
Seeing this, Landon and Winston exchanged a glance and quickly agreed to accept the gifts. "Since you gave them to us, we'll take them. Thank Uncle Donovan for us."
Finley smiled again.
