Chapter 251 Don't You Like Me Anymore?

The weekend flew by.

Riley dropped the kids off at kindergarten early.

The little ones were curious, their eyes darting around as they joined their first group activity.

Other kids came over to greet them, and they responded to each one.

Riley realized her kids were quite popular.

"Riley!"

A sweet voice called from behind.

Riley hadn't seen Finley in a while and missed her dearly. She smiled and turned to hug her.

But just as she turned around and met Donovan's eyes, Riley's face stiffened slightly and her smile faded. She just patted Finley's head. "Good morning, Finley."

Then she looked at Donovan with a distant expression. "Good morning, Mr. Wilder."

Since it was an outdoor event, Donovan was dressed more casually, wearing a lightweight, dark trench coat that complemented his tall frame. His hair was down, resting on his forehead, adding a hint of youthful vigor.

His eyes darkened as he met Riley's gaze. "I thought you wouldn't come today."

Riley froze for a moment, understanding his implication about her avoiding him lately.

She felt a twinge of sarcasm.

Why should she avoid him? Didn't he know? What right did he have to say that?

She lowered her eyes nonchalantly. "It's the kids' first group activity; of course, I have to be here."

Donovan glanced at Finley and agreed, "You are right. It's also Finley's first group activity since her recovery. No matter how busy I am, I have to be here."

Mentioning Finley's illness softened Riley's heart. She looked at Finley with gentle eyes.

Finley smiled brightly at her, making Riley's heart ache.

More parents gathered around, chatting with Donovan.

Riley finally looked away from Finley. "Since you are so busy, I won't disturb you."

She turned and left with her kids.

Donovan, though surrounded by parents, kept his eyes on Riley.

Riley wore a pale yellow dress with white flowers, her long hair pinned back casually. The kids wore matching white tracksuits, looking like little princes.

They stood out in the crowd.

Seeing Riley leave, Finley anxiously broke free from Donovan's hand.

Donovan understood and let her go.

Riley felt someone tugging at her dress. Thinking it was a mischievous child, she turned to ask them to stop.

She saw Finley's pitiful face.

"Riley, don't you like me anymore?" Finley clutched her dress, pouting.
