Chapter 114 Dissatisfaction with Him
After nearly an hour, Alexander finally emerged from the room, exhausted.
He had tried everything to get a response from Finley, but ultimately, he didn't achieve the desired effect.
"How did it go?" Donovan asked nervously.
Alexander shook his head. "Finley has completely withdrawn and won't engage with anyone, not even me. There must have been something that set her off. Unless we pinpoint the trigger, it's doubtful we'll be able to address this issue.”
Hearing this, Donovan's expression tightened slightly.
Alexander, unaware of his brother's reaction, earnestly sought confirmation, "Has Finley encountered anything lately that could have triggered a shift in her emotions?"
The memory of the morning incident, where Finley spoke because of Riley, quickly flashed through Donovan's mind, leading to an obvious conclusion.
Donovan remained silent for a few moments before recounting the morning events. Upon learning that Riley had such a profound emotional impact on Finley, Alexander was surprised.
He then suggested, "Perhaps that woman is the underlying issue. If she were to visit, Finley's condition might improve.”
'Having Riley appear in front of Finley?' he thought.
Donovan thought of Riley's resolute departure that morning and furrowed his brow in frustration. "Got it. I'll go talk to her and try to get her to come over."
Alexander nodded.
Unaware of Finley's observant nature, Riley left the kindergarten feeling unsettled, likely due to Donovan's remarks.
Despite Donovan's seemingly genuine tone and expression, Riley couldn't shake the feeling that he was somehow involved in the situation.
As she returned home, Riley found it difficult to shake off her heavy mood.
Concerned that her children might pick up on her distress, she made an effort to compose herself.
The two little ones had already calmed down. Seeing Riley enter, they greeted her, "Mommy! Did you get the paperwork done?"
Riley smiled nonchalantly and nodded, even mentioning her encounter with Finley. "Yes, it's done. I also spoke to Finley for you."
"Thank you, Mommy!" the two little ones thanked her sweetly.
Riley patted their heads, finally feeling a bit more at ease.
Meanwhile, Harper observed the interaction between the three of them and felt a twinge of sadness, becoming more and more disappointed in Donovan.
The two young children guided their mother to the sofa and enthusiastically proposed, "Mommy, since we're not going to kindergarten and haven't enrolled in any classes yet, can we have a break for a bit?"
Riley also felt compassion for her children. Upon hearing their request, she readily agreed, "Of course, once you've had a rest, Mommy will organize your classes.”
"Mummy, can you take a break too?" Winston pleaded, holding onto Riley's arm with a sweet smile. "We've been home for ages and haven't gone out to play. Can you come with us? Auntie Bishop just told us that the Global Adventure Park in town is really exciting. We both really want to go!"
They had talked about it before. They knew that if Daddy had the two boys expelled from kindergarten, it wouldn't just upset them, but their mother as well. Therefore, they decided to take her out to relax a bit.
Riley hesitated a bit.
Harper noticed the two little ones' intentions and chimed in, “I haven't been there in a long time either. I took the day off today, so why don't we all go together?"
Riley wasn't keen on going to the research institute that day, especially since there wasn't anything significant happening there. After some hesitation, she eventually agreed.
The four of them swiftly gathered their things and set off for the Global Adventure Park.
