Chapter 84 Don't Want to Deal with People

It was almost ten o'clock when Donovan brought Finley back.
As soon as they got out of the car, they saw the butler waiting at the door.
"Mr. Wilder, Miss Sutton is here, waiting inside," the butler said as Donovan frowned slightly, nodded, and led Finley inside.
"You're back!" Hollis, sitting on the sofa, stood up as they entered and moved to greet them. She crouched down to pat Finley's head, but Finley dodged her touch.
Seeing this, a hint of displeasure flashed in Hollis's eyes, quickly masked by a smile as she stood up.
"What's the matter?" Donovan glanced at her coldly.
Hollis casually smiled and said, "Thanks for lending us a hand today. My dad insisted I come over to thank you properly."
Before she could continue, Donovan abruptly interrupted, "Is the matter resolved?"
Hollis was silent for a moment before reluctantly nodding and saying, "Yes, it was a bit troublesome, so I was busy until the afternoon. I hope it didn't cause any delays for you."
Donovan nodded. "The Wilder Corporation have many workers. Work wouldn't be delayed because of one person. There is no need to thank me."
With that, Donovan walked past Hollis with Finley. As they passed each other, Hollis' expression momentarily twisted, but she quickly composed herself and appeared friendly again.
"Regardless, you helped me out of a big trouble. I wasn't sure what you needed, so I didn't get you anything. I just bought Finley some small toys, nothing too expensive, just a token of my appreciation."
After saying that, Hollis took out a limited-edition doll from a bag on the sofa. The packaging was exquisite, clearly part of the same series as those in Finley's room.
Knowing Finley liked these dolls, Donovan paused to see if she wanted to accept them. However, Finley didn't even look up, clutching Donovan's hand instead and sticking close to him.
Understanding the situation, Donovan raised his eyes and declined Hollis' gift. "I appreciate the thought, but she already has this one. Besides, she was throwing a tantrum earlier and now doesn't want to deal with people."
Hollis' expression stiffened slightly as she forced a smile and put the gift away. Then she looked at Finley with concern. "Why is she throwing a tantrum again?"
Having been rejected by Finley several times, Hollis didn't try to force contact with her. She was also wary of Donovan noticing anything unusual, so she directed her question at him.
Donovan replied curtly, "Just a minor issue."
With that, Donovan averted his gaze. It was clear he had no intention of sharing the specific details with Hollis.
Or perhaps Donovan didn't think Hollis was qualified to know.
Hollis clenched her hand tightly around the gift bag, her fingertips digging deep into her flesh, maintaining a smile on her face. "Is that so? Well, since you're back so late, did you take her out for a walk to relax?"
Donovan frowned coldly. "It's late. Do you have any other business? If not, you should go back. Finley needs to rest."
Hollis opened her mouth but couldn't think of any other reasons, so she could only watch as Donovan took Finley upstairs.
As they left the villa, the expression on Hollis' face seemed somewhat sinister.
The driver noticed Hollis' expression and tensed up, speaking cautiously, "Miss Sutton, are we heading back now?"
Hollis glared at the driver harshly. "Go find out about Donovan. Where did he take that little brat tonight!"
The driver shuddered and quickly agreed.
