Chapter 183 Just Agreed Like That?

The villa door slowly closed, and Finley's figure disappeared from Riley's sight.

Riley took a deep breath, suppressing the sudden rush of tears. Her heart was filled with a deep sense of reluctance to part with Finley.

During this period, it was visibly clear that Finley liked them, and after staying with them, her condition had indeed improved rapidly.

If possible, Riley wanted to take care of Finley until fully recovered, to hear Finley speak a complete sentence clearly.

But, there was no such opportunity.

Landon and Winston followed behind them down the stairs, noticing that Riley wanted to send Finley away. Although reluctant, they didn't say anything.

Seeing Riley so sad, they warmly snuggled into her arms, hugging her from both sides. "Mommy, don't be sad; we will always be with you!"

Feeling the softness in her arms, warmth slowly spread in Riley's heart.

Despite the reluctance to part with Finley, the high-intensity work soon left Riley no time to deal with these personal matters, fully immersing herself in research every day.

That day, Riley left the lab just in time for kindergarten pick-up. On the way to pick up the kids from kindergarten, Adam's call came through.

Riley answered, "Adam, what's up?"

On the other end, Adam's voice sounded a bit heavy. "Do you have time? I need your help with something."

Riley sensed something unusual and agreed without hesitation, "What is it?"

Adam said, "We might need to discuss this in person. I'll send you the location in a bit."

Riley agreed, hung up the phone, sped up to pick up the kids from kindergarten, took them home, and entrusted them to a friend for care. Then she hurried to the restaurant Adam had mentioned.

When she arrived, Adam was already there, looking a bit serious.

"Sorry for the sudden invitation." Seeing her sit down, Adam apologized.

Riley smiled indifferently. "It's okay, I didn't have any plans tonight anyway. What do you need help with?"

As they talked, the waiter brought the dishes, and they chatted while eating.

"I originally didn't plan to stay long this time, but yesterday an elder in my family suddenly had a brain condition. Since I'm the only one in the family with a medical background, I stayed." Adam said, "I reviewed his diagnosis report. The treatment requires a craniotomy, but given his advanced age, the surgery carries significant risks. The estimated success rate is only twenty percent."

Being in the same field, Adam summarized the patient's condition in a few words, through which Riley roughly understood what he needed help with.

"We've collaborated abroad many times, and among the doctors I know, no one surpasses you in this area, so I wanted to ask you..." Adam hesitated.

After all, craniotomy is inherently risky, and the surgeon bears immense pressure. Riley had no obligation to take this risk.

Riley knew why he was hesitant. Without waiting for Adam to continue, she spoke up directly, "Where is the patient now? I think, if there's a chance, I should personally check his condition. As you said, I'm quite skilled in this area. Maybe I can come up with another plan."

Adam was still pondering how to phrase his next words, but hearing this, a look of surprise flashed in his eyes.

Riley just agreed like that?
