Chapter 292 There Shouldn't Be Too Many Entanglements

After a bit, Donovan gave a small smile to the kids. "You're right. I won't bother you anymore."

His breaking off of the engagement was still a private matter, so he didn't plan to tell them now.

The kids were surprised he agreed so easily, feeling a bit disappointed.

So, their dad was really going to marry someone else and leave them.

Thinking this, they looked at Donovan with a hint of resentment and said, "Goodbye, Uncle Donovan."

Donovan was confused by their attitude and wondered what he had done wrong, apart from his marriage to Hollis, to make them act so differently.

Just a moment ago, they were keeping their distance, and now that he agreed to leave, they seemed reluctant.

No matter how much he thought about it, he couldn't figure it out.

Donovan put his thoughts aside and bent down to take Finley's hand.

Finley, who had been listening to her dad's conversation with the boys, knew he was going to take her away. She frowned, jumped off the couch, and dodged his hand.

Donovan's hand came up empty, and he looked at Finley with a headache.

He should have expected that Finley, who relied so much on Riley and had just been scared, would be even more attached to Riley.

Finley's purpose for coming here wasn't just to deliver medicine. The most important thing was that she wanted to stay with Riley.

"Finley, be good. We'll see Riley another day. Now go back with daddy," Donovan said, looking at her from afar.

Yesterday's incident not only scared her but also taught him a lesson. He didn't dare push her too hard, fearing she might do something impulsive again.

Despite his gentle tone, Finley still shook her head stubbornly. "No!"

She wanted to be with Riley! Riley was the best to her!

When she was alone in the deep pit, crying until her voice was hoarse, it was Riley who came to save her!

Finley felt that if she had to have a mommy, she only wanted Riley. She didn't want anyone else!

The little one spoke again, still because of Riley.

Donovan sighed inwardly. Ever since Finley met Riley, she had been constantly showing him how important Riley was to her.

Even he, who had taken care of her for years, couldn't compare.

The kids saw Finley's state and thought of yesterday's incident. They felt a bit reluctant to let her leave.

But their mom didn't show any intention of wanting Finley to stay either.

The kids had no choice but to quiet down, somewhat regretting why they had hurried to drive their dad away earlier. If they hadn't, he wouldn't be trying to take Finley away now.

For a moment, no one in the living room spoke, leaving Donovan and Finley in a standoff.

Donovan pressed his temples in frustration. "Finley, daddy has to go back to work. How about I take you to grandma and grandpa's house?"

Finley still stubbornly refused, running over to cling to Riley's hand, showing Donovan she wanted to be with Riley.

Riley felt a wave of tenderness as Finley clung to her.

But seeing Donovan in front of her, she had to harden her heart towards Finley.

After all, Landon and Winston were right. Donovan was about to get engaged to another woman, and they shouldn't have too many entanglements.
