Chapter 390 Wait for My Good News

Dalton picked up on Riley's worries and got what she was stressing about. He leaned in a bit and rephrased, "The Benedict Group and the Wilder Group are tight. This won't mess that up. I wouldn't put the Benedict Group at risk. I'm bringing this up now 'cause I've got everything sorted."

Riley saw the confidence in his eyes, and her doubts started to fade. She asked, "But why are you helping me so much? Is it just 'cause I cured Daniel?"

Dalton thought back to his chat with Donovan last night and gave Riley a meaningful look.

Riley met his gaze, feeling confused. She frowned a bit, waiting for him to explain.

After a moment, Dalton spoke slowly, his voice steady. "My grandpa was bedridden for years, and his recovery to this point is all thanks to you. You said he was on the brink of death when you took over. You're his savior, and that means a lot to the Benedict Group. He even thinks of you as family and always tells me to look out for you."

Riley remembered when Daniel tried to set her up with Dalton during the meal at the Benedict Estate. She bit her lip, her mind racing. She wondered if Daniel was still at it.

"Please thank Daniel for me," she said seriously. "As a doctor, it's my job to treat patients, and I wasn't doing it for free. The Benedict Group paid me well, so we're even. He doesn't need to keep thinking about it."

After a pause, Riley added earnestly, "Besides, I already have two kids. I made it clear when I turned down Daniel's suggestion last time, and you probably wouldn't agree either."

As she finished, the mood in the room shifted. Dalton looked a bit helpless and sighed.

Was he really that easy to misunderstand? Last night, Donovan had the same reaction. Now, Riley was jumping to conclusions too.

Meanwhile, Deacon's heart sank, and his eyes narrowed. He knew Riley's relationship with Dalton had gotten closer because she treated Daniel. But he hadn't expected Daniel to have such thoughts. Even though Riley didn't spell it out, he could guess Daniel wanted to set her up with Dalton.

Dalton took a moment to shake off his helplessness and explained with a bit of amusement, "It's not about that. You've already said no, and my grandpa wouldn't push you. It's just 'cause you saved him. Plus, with your personality, I think the Benedict Group should help you."

Riley finally relaxed and smiled. "Since you put it that way, I'll accept it. Whether those herbal suppliers want to work with our research institute or not, I'm grateful the Benedict Group is willing to help. Mr. Benedict, I'll treat you to a meal sometime."

Dalton grinned, "Sounds good. Just for that meal, I'll make sure to convince those herbal suppliers. Dr. Monroe, wait for my good news!"

They chatted a bit more about the suppliers before Dalton got up to leave.
