Chapter 233 What Does He Want Again
The next morning, Adam woke up with a slight headache but was still worried about Riley. After freshening up, he headed next door.
As he opened the door, he noticed the room next to Riley's was opening at the same time, and a somewhat familiar figure stepped out.
"Mr. Smith, long time no see."
Donovan was also concerned about Riley and wanted to check on her, but he hadn't expected to run into Adam.
Meeting Adam's gaze, Donovan subtly furrowed his brow and then politely greeted with a smile.
Adam had recognized the person in front of him once Donovan stepped out of his room but was a bit hesitant to believe it.
After all, they were staying at a hotel booked by the organizers, which was just average in North City. Given Donovan's status, there was no reason for him to stay at such a hotel.
It wasn't until Donovan greeted him that Adam dared to confirm it was indeed him. He froze for a moment before smiling and nodding. "Long time no see."
Donovan nodded back and walked to Riley's door as if no one else was around, raising his hand to knock.
Seeing this, a surprising thought crossed Adam's mind.
Could Donovan be staying at this hotel because of Riley?
But what exactly was going on between them?
With this in mind, Adam hesitantly walked to Riley's door and casually asked, "Mr. Wilder, do you need something from Riley?"
Donovan raised an eyebrow noncommittally. "She wasn't feeling well last night, so I brought her back. Naturally, I want to check on her this morning."
This confirmed Adam's suspicion.
Adam smiled warmly. "It's kind of you to care about our Riley, Mr. Wilder, but I think Riley might not want to see you."
Donovan's eyes darkened, and an oppressive aura surrounded him.
Adam, however, seemed oblivious, turning to look at Riley's door with an unchanged smile.
Inside the room, Riley had just woken up not long ago and shuffled out just in time to hear a knock on the door outside, only assuming it was Adam looking for her and going over to open the door to her room.
Seeing who was at the door, Riley was taken aback. "What are you doing here?"
She remembered that Donovan's hotel was near the restaurant where they had dinner last night. How could he be at her door so early in the morning?
And what did he want?
Donovan furrowed his brow slightly, his gaze sweeping over her. Seeing that she looked much better than she had the previous night, he let out a small sigh of relief. "I brought you back last night, so naturally, I wanted to check on you this morning," he said, his tone calm and unbothered.
Riley forced a smile, her expression guarded. "Thank you for your concern, Mr. Wilder. I just had a bit too much to drink last night. I'm perfectly fine now," she replied, her words clipped and polite, a clear signal she was trying to put some distance between them.
With that, she turned to Adam, her tone much more familiar, "Adam, is there something you need?"
Adam replied gently, "Nothing much, just that you said you weren't feeling well last night, and I was a bit worried."
Riley's smile became more genuine. "Sorry to make you worry, but I'm fine now."
Adam smiled. "That's good to hear."
After they finished speaking, Riley noticed Donovan still standing at the door. She frowned slightly and subtly hinted for him to leave. "Is there anything else, Mr. Wilder?"
Donovan, displeased by the atmosphere between the two, caught the hint in Riley's words and nodded noncommittally.
