Chapter 234 Don't Involve Others
Seeing him nod, Riley was totally confused.
"Time for breakfast. Mind joining me?" Donovan asked calmly, eyeing the two of them.
Riley and Adam exchanged puzzled looks, unsure of his intentions.
After a moment, Riley forced a smile. "Mr. Wilder, you're busy. I'll clean up and eat later by myself."
Donovan smiled. "No rush. I’ve got no plans today."
Riley felt a headache coming on. "Our food might not suit your taste, Mr. Wilder."
Donovan shrugged. "Don't worry. I'm not picky, Ms. Monroe."
Riley fell silent. Donovan, a business mogul, surely got her hint. He was doing this on purpose! But why?
Her head throbbed. She decided to use Adam as an excuse. "Adam and I need to discuss something over breakfast. It might be inconvenient with you here."
She shot Adam a pleading look.
Adam smiled gently and turned to Donovan. "Riley's right. We have things to discuss. Please excuse us, Mr. Wilder."
Seeing their united front, Donovan was annoyed but stayed calm. "Really? I'll step out when you need to talk."
Riley was about to find another excuse when Donovan brought up last night.
"Ms. Monroe, remember you promised to buy me coffee, but I ended up paying? Plus, I drove you back. A breakfast isn't too much to ask, right?" Donovan looked deeply at Riley.
Riley sighed. "Fine, give me a moment to change."
She hoped this breakfast would settle things with Donovan.
Riley went inside, leaving the two men outside with different expressions.
Adam still wore a gentle smile.
Donovan's face was blank, but his eyes were on Adam. Thinking about his closeness with Riley, Donovan felt a surge of displeasure.
When Riley was ready, the three of them headed downstairs for breakfast.
With Donovan there, Riley and Adam were unusually quiet. The atmosphere was tense.
Donovan casually asked, "What are your plans after breakfast?"
Riley paused, then looked at Donovan. "Why do you care about our plans? Don't you have your own schedule?"
Donovan smiled. "It's rare to meet friends. Can't we hang out?"
He glanced at Adam and then said to Riley, "Or do you think I'm intruding on your private time?"
Riley's expression changed slightly. "Let's keep our matters between us, without involving others!!"
Donovan smiled ambiguously but said nothing.
Riley looked away, feeling a mix of emotions, unsure of Donovan's intentions.
