Chapter 365 It's All Thanks to You
After a brief discussion with Deacon, Riley called Dalton.
Dalton picked up almost right away. "Dr. Monroe, what's up?" he asked, sounding polite but a bit confused. They hadn't talked since Daniel's birthday party, so Riley's call was a surprise.
Riley kept it casual. "Is Daniel home? I want to check on his health and see how he's recovering."
Dalton answered quickly. "Thanks for asking. Grandpa's at home. You can come over."
With that, Riley ended the call, grabbed her medical kit, and headed to the Benedict estate.
When she got there, the butler was already waiting for her. "Dr. Monroe, Mr. Benedict asked me to meet you. He's waiting in the living room," the butler said respectfully.
Riley nodded and followed him to the villa. As they walked, her mind raced with thoughts on how to bring up the topic with Dalton.
Given the close ties between the Benedict Group and the Wilder Group, she found it hard to believe the Benedict family would be easily swayed by the Wilders. But Barry's attitude about the pharmaceutical supplies suggested otherwise.
Could it be that Catherine had personally spoken to Dalton and he had agreed to the change? If so, no matter what she said today, it might all be in vain. These were just speculations, though. She needed to gauge Dalton's stance first.
Lost in thought, Riley arrived at the villa entrance. By the time the door opened, she had composed herself.
Knowing that Riley was coming to check on Daniel's health, Dalton rushed back from the company. He was sitting on the sofa, working, but stood up as soon as she walked in. "Dr. Monroe, long time no see," he greeted warmly.
Riley smiled calmly. "Where's Daniel?"
Dalton signaled the butler to serve tea and led her to the back garden. "Grandpa knows you're coming and is already waiting outside," he said.
Though Daniel's health had improved, he was still old and frail from being bedridden for so long. He spent most of his time resting and followed a strict rehab schedule. It was his rehab time now, and when he heard Riley was coming, he asked his caregiver to leave and was relaxing in the back garden, soaking up the sun.
Riley saw Daniel sitting in the sun, a cane by his side, looking very relaxed. The sight filled her with a sense of relief.
"Daniel," she called softly as she tiptoed forward, leaning in close to his ear.
Daniel, who had dozed off while waiting, stirred at the sound of her voice. Groggy at first, he soon recognized her and smiled. "Dr. Monroe, you're here? Dalton said you wanted to check on my health. I appreciate you still thinking of me."
Riley felt a pang of guilt but smiled warmly. She set down her medical kit and began examining Daniel.
After a thorough check-up, she straightened up and said, "Your condition has stabilized very well. With your physical constitution, you just need to rest a bit longer, and you'll be back to normal."
Daniel nodded, a smile spreading across his face. "I can feel my body getting better bit by bit, all thanks to you."
