Chapter 205 Do You Want to Be with Uncle?
Riley brought the kids home and hesitated at the door, wondering if she should invite Deacon in.
Deacon noticed and gave her a warm smile. "It's late. I should get going. See you tomorrow."
Riley felt a wave of relief. She smiled back and said goodbye.
As Deacon's car drove off, Riley led the kids inside.
Dinner was already on the table, thanks to Sophie.
Riley treated Sophie like family, and they all sat down to eat together.
During dinner, Sophie grinned and asked, "Ms. Monroe, did you see today's news? You and Mr. Wilder..."
Sophie had seen the news earlier and found it funny that the media mistook Riley for Donovan's fiancée. She thought they made a cute couple, but Riley cut her off before she could tease.
"Just a misunderstanding. Ignore it."
Riley kept her head down, serving food to the kids as she spoke.
Seeing Riley didn't want to talk about it,Sophie wisely changed the subject and asked the kids about their day at kindergarten.
Landon and Winston were curious but kept quiet, eating their food whileanswering Sophie's questions politely.
After dinner, the kids didn't play with their Legos. Instead, they rushed to their room.
Riley felt a bit heavy-hearted, knowing the kids had picked up on something.
In their room, Landon and Winston, being sharp, quickly searched for Donovan's name on social media.
They soon found the trending topic.
Opening it, they saw two photos.
They recognized the woman in the photos as their mom.
But the topic said Donovan and his fiancée?
The kids were confused.
Wasn't Donovan supposed to marry someone else? Why were there photos of their mom with him?
But they had to admit, Donovan seemed really good to their mom in the photos.
They remembered how kind Donovan had been to their mom when she was sick.
The comments also talked about how great Donovan was to their mom and said they made a good couple.
The kids started to waver.
After studying the topic for a while, they ran to their mom with the laptop. "Mommy, are you going to be with Donovan?"
Riley glanced at the screen and frowned.
She had stopped Sophie from talking to avoid confusing the kids, but she hadn't expected them to look it up themselves.
The kids looked at her eagerly.
"No, his fiancée is named Hollis. You've met her. This news is just a mistake." After a long pause, Riley forced down the strange feeling in her heart and calmly explained.
Hearing this, the kids exchanged a glance. Landon nodded obediently and stayed quiet.
Winston, however, looked a bit disappointed.
He had thought he was finally going to have a dad.
