Chapter 30 Questioning Her Ability

After listening, Donovan slowly withdrew his gaze, expressionless, and replied in an even tone, "Nothing, let's go."

The man in front nodded in confusion, and the three of them descended the stairs with large strides.

Finley was held in his father's arms, staring earnestly at the beautiful woman in front of him, feeling very happy. Riley, being looked at by this father-daughter pair, was momentarily unsure of how to react.

Fortunately, the man in front broke the silence. "Are you the doctor that Doctor Stone recommended to treat my grandpa?"

Riley adjusted her expression and smiled lightly, saying, "Yes, that's me. Hello, I'm Riley Monroe."

"Dr. Monroe," the man extended his hand towards her, saying, "I'm Dalton Benedict, and this is my sister, Mia Benedict."

Afterward, he glanced at Donovan, who stood behind them and said, "And this one, he's our friend. His surname is Wilder."

Riley forcefully nodded and greeted each of them, saying, "Mr. Benedict, Miss Benedict, Mr. Wilder."

Just as she finished speaking, she distinctly heard a man's unfriendly chuckle, which seemed to carry a hint of mockery.

Riley lowered her eyes, concealing any unusual emotions underneath. Beside her, Mia sized her up for a while, her attractive eyebrows slightly furrowing as she questioned, "So, you're the doctor who claims to be able to treat my grandfather? You look to be around the same age as us, so I suspect you haven't been a doctor for very long, right? Are you sure you're actually capable?"

Her attitude was not much different from the butler's just now.

However, she was the patient's relative, so even though Riley didn't mind her doubts, she was about to explain herself when Dalton apologetically smiled at her and said, "I'm sorry, my grandfather's condition is quite serious. We have invited countless doctors, but none have been able to help. My sister is just worried about our grandfather being subjected to more torment. After all, there have been many doctors who have given us hope and then disappointed us. So, we are naturally more cautious. Please don't be angry, Dr. Monroe."

After finishing his words, Dalton sternly looked at Mia and said, "Dr. Monroe is here to treat our grandfather. How can you be so rude? Apologize to Dr. Monroe."

Reluctantly, Mia muttered quietly, "I'm sorry."

Riley hadn't really care about Mia’s offense before, so upon hearing this apology, she smiled calmly at them and said, "It's okay. After all, you're family, and it's understandable that you're concerned. You can trust in my abilities. Although I may not be as experienced as the seasoned famous doctors and I may not appear as such, I have studied many difficult illnesses abroad in recent years. Despite my lack of experience, I have absolute confidence in my abilities."

After finishing, Riley took out a portfolio from her bag and handed it to Dalton. "These are my credentials from all these years. Mr. Benedict can take a look first before deciding whether I am qualified to treat Mr. Benedict Sr.," she said.

Dalton was surprised at how well-prepared she was. While he had scolded Mia earlier, he still wasn't completely convinced by Riley. However, her confident demeanor and thorough preparation were enough to persuade anyone, even without looking at her credentials.

With a sense of responsibility towards his grandfather and curiosity about Riley, Dalton reached out to take the file. But before he could touch it, he saw an attractive hand reach out from beside him and take the file away.
