Chapter 125: How Long Do You Plan to Keep Acting?
Upon hearing this, Riley's heart sank slightly, and she quickly defended herself. "Let me clarify, this wasn't me! I have always believed that children are innocent, and since Landon and Winston care for Finley so deeply, there is no way I would harm her.”
Given that her relationship with Donovan had not yet been mended, and now with Finley being found injured in her care, she was understandably feeling highly suspicious. Furthermore, she had been alone with Finley.
If Donovan harbored any doubts, she feared she wouldn't be able to adequately explain herself. At that moment, Riley felt a sense of unease.
Donovan was already suspicious, but upon hearing this, his eyes narrowed slightly as he inexplicably looked at Riley. "I don't suspect you, and I have a good idea of who is behind this.”
Riley breathed a sigh of relief but was still worried about Finley. "Who did it?"
The pressure around Donovan gradually decreased.
Two nights ago, his parents had taken Finley from the estate without giving any explanation. While their actions were somewhat abrupt, he knew that they typically showered their granddaughter with affection and would never harm her.
From the night before last until now, the only suspicious person who had contact with Finley was Hollis!
Donovan had always known that Finley was very opposed to Hollis, but he never expected Hollis to dare to harm Finley!
Seeing his face darken, Riley couldn't help but feel anxious. "Who is it exactly?"
"Please look after Finley for now, I have something to take care of," Donovan informed Riley coldly, suppressing his anger before turning and walking away.
Watching his departing figure, Riley frowned deeply, feeling indignant for Finley.
The child was injured so badly, and even though Donovan had seen it with his own eyes, he still left her behind!
Meanwhile, Hollis, intimidated by Donovan's aura, felt her legs go weak. She sat in the restaurant for a while before getting up to go home.
Back at home, Riley's mind was still preoccupied with Donovan's earlier interrogation, leaving her unsettled for a while.
Just as she was considering reaching out to Donovan's parents for assistance, the doorbell unexpectedly rang. Hollis set aside her phone and directed the butler to answer the door.
Moments later, the butler led someone inside.
Seeing who it was, Hollis's face turned pale. "Donovan? Why... why are you here?"
Before she could finish her sentence, Donovan strode up to her.
Hollis instinctively attempted to dodge, but her neck was already tightly gripped, her eyes filled with terror, and her voice trembling. "Donovan, what's happening?"
The Donovan before her wore a sinister expression, his eyes gleaming with murderous intent, resembling a demon emerging from hell.
"Did you cause the injuries on Finley?"
Hollis was shocked as the grip on her neck tightened, making it difficult for her to breathe. She hastily grabbed Donovan's wrist, saying, "Donovan, I don't understand what you're talking about. Please release me. Let's discuss this calmly, alright?"
Donovan's eyes narrowed, his tone icy. "Hollis, how much longer do you intend to keep up this act?”
Hollis's face turned pale as she desperately defended herself. "I honestly don't know. You know how much I care for Finley, I would never harm her. I have no idea what injuries you're referring to! I don't understand why you suspect me, but I am truly innocent, Donovan. You have to believe me!”
