Chapter 93 Seeing You Makes Me Feel a Bit Better
Riley faintly heard Auntie Cole's words on the phone, knowing that Finley was unwell, and felt somewhat worried.
Upon hearing Donovan's words, she immediately turned the car around and headed toward the Wilder family estate.
Twenty minutes later, the car slowly stopped outside the Wilder family estate.
Thinking of Finley, Riley looked at Donovan beside her with some concern. "Take good care of Finley. If you need anything from me, feel free to contact me at any time."
Donovan met Riley's gaze with an unreadable expression. "Since you're so worried, why don’t you go up and check on her? Besides, Finley relies on you so much. Seeing you when she’s sick might lift her spirits a bit."
After speaking, Donovan opened the car door, got out, and walked straight toward the mansion's entrance.
It was as if he was telling Riley that she could go if she wanted to, without any pressure from Donovan.
Watching Donovan's back, Riley frowned slightly.
'Shouldn't Finley's mother come to see her when she's sick? No matter how busy Hollis is, she wouldn't just leave her ill child unattended,' she thought.
But then she thought of Finley lying sick in bed, and in the end, she couldn't bear it and got out of the car to follow Donovan into the mansion.
As soon as Donovan entered, Auntie Cole came over, holding Finley.
"Mr. Wilder, you're finally back. Finley has gotten so sick. I wanted her to lie down in bed, but she insisted on waiting for you. I had to bring her here."
Finley's face was flushed, with a fever patch on her forehead, looking very weak.
Seeing her dad return, she immediately reached out for Donovan to pick her up.
Donovan reached out and held Finley in his arms. He checked her temperature and frowned slightly. "What happened? How did she suddenly get a fever?"
Auntie Cole looked at Finley in his arms with worry. "When she came back from kindergarten in the evening, she seemed a bit low-spirited, and didn't eat much. I thought she was just tired. I took her upstairs for a bath, only to discover she had a slight fever. I called the family doctor and got some medicine, but Finley insisted on waiting for you before resting."
Donovan nodded, patting Finley's back, and asked with concern, "Are you still feeling uncomfortable?"
Finley wrapped her arms around her dad's neck, burying her head on his shoulder, nodding pitifully.
Donovan soothingly patted her head.
"Mr. Wilder, now that you're back, please take Finley upstairs to rest quickly." Auntie Cole urged.
Hesitating for a moment at her words, Donovan said, "Let’s wait a bit."
Auntie Cole looked at Donovan in confusion, unsure of what he was waiting for.
Just as Auntie Cole was getting anxious, they heard footsteps at the door again.
It sounded like a woman's step. The three of them instinctively looked toward the door.
When they saw the newcomer, Donovan's eyes softened with warmth.
However, Auntie Cole was stunned in place, finding it hard to believe her eyes.
Riley had just entered when she met three different gazes, causing her to pause.
Seeing that the layout of the villa seemed unchanged, her emotions were mixed.
Six years ago, this was Riley's home.
Riley had lived here for a few years. Although Donovan was indifferent toward her emotionally, he didn't interfere in her life beyond their relationship.
Over the years, some of the decorations in the villa have been influenced by Riley's ideas.
She thought that after she left, Donovan would immediately make changes. But six years later, upon stepping back in, she found everything had stayed the same.
After a glance around, Riley slowly averted her gaze, feeling somewhat self-deprecating.
Seeing those old items, Riley unexpectedly felt a sense of nostalgia.
She hadn't considered that perhaps Donovan had simply never noticed these things, which was why they had remained unchanged.
