Chapter 100 Won't Disturb Your Life
Riley paused in her steps, looking back in confusion.
Donovan furrowed his brow. “It's four in the morning now, and you've only slept for a short while. I can't let you drive back like this. Moreover, if you leave like this, I can't explain it to Finley. You promised her you wouldn't leave. If she wakes up and can't find you, she'll definitely make a fuss. She might even run straight to your house. Her body hasn't fully recovered yet. What if she falls ill again?”
Upon hearing this, Riley furrowed her brow slightly. Due to the dream she just had, she didn't want to stay with Donovan any longer.
But Riley did promise Finley she wouldn't leave.
Seeing Riley's dilemma, Donovan's expression darkened, his tone turning colder. “Don't worry. The only time Finley can trouble you is now. In the future, if there's nothing wrong, I won't let her disturb your life again.”
After speaking, Donovan released Riley's wrist.
Riley couldn't help but feel uncomfortable at Donovan's words, which sounded strange to her for some reason.
On the bed, Finley seemed to notice the emptiness beside her. She turned over to touch the vacant side of the bed and emitted a few murmurs.
Upon hearing this movement, both of them instinctively looked over.
Riley still couldn't bear to be harsh with Finley, hesitated for a few seconds, and spoke, “I'll stay with Finley, but, Mr. Wilder, our current relationship seems inappropriate for you to be in the room while I'm asleep.”
This was a clear eviction notice to Donovan.
Donovan's gaze darkened, and after a few seconds, he coldly agreed, “Fine, I'll leave Finley to you.”
After Donovan spoke, he turned and left briskly.
Seeing the door close, Riley breathed a sigh of relief and lay down beside Finley.
Finley approached Riley as if looking for a source of warmth.
Riley's heart softened, and she reached out to embrace Finley.
Finley snuggled comfortably into Riley's arms, a faint smile playing on her lips.
Seeing this, Riley felt her heart melting, the unease from the nightmare earlier dissipating as she drifted back to sleep.
The next morning, Finley woke up in Riley's embrace.
As Finley opened her eyes, she saw Riley in front of her, her eyes sparkling with joy.
Finley was delighted! The beautiful auntie hadn't left and had even slept with her! It would be wonderful if every day could be like this!
Riley, feeling Finley's laser-like gaze, woke up as well. She met Finley's sparkling eyes and couldn't help but smile. “Good morning, feeling better?”
Finley nodded. Riley smiled reassuringly. “That's good. It's time to get up.”
With that, Riley got up from the bed.
Auntie Cole knocked on the door and brought clothes for Finley. Riley helped her change.
After changing, Auntie Cole was about to take Finley to freshen up, but Finley stood with her hands behind her back, indicating she wanted Riley to take her.
“Ms. Monroe, why don't you take Finley?” Auntie Cole understood Finley's preference and entrusted her to Riley.
Riley, accustomed to taking care of Landon and Winston at home, effortlessly led Finley into the bathroom.
After freshening up, Riley braided Finley's hair.
As she was halfway through, Finley's eyes lit up with anticipation as she obediently sat on a small chair, gazing at herself in the mirror.
At the bathroom door, Donovan, dressed in a shirt and trousers with a few buttons undone, appeared freshly washed, quietly observing Riley braiding Finley's hair.
