Chapter 201 Need Clarification?

"Anything interesting?" Deacon asked curiously, noticing Riley had been glued to her phone for a while.

Riley snapped out of her thoughts and smiled casually. "Just some news."

Given her current relationship with Donovan, the information about Donovan was indeed nothing more than news to her.

Deacon, curious, pressed on, "What news? Another celebrity scandal?"

Riley hesitated, not expecting him to dig deeper. "Not a celebrity, just something random I clicked on."

Before Deacon could ask more, she quickly changed the subject. "This project has been pretty hectic. I'm finding it a bit challenging."

Deacon raised his eyebrows ever so slightly and followed her lead, smoothly changing the subject.

Riley got off work early today, and with Deacon giving her a ride, they arrived at the kindergarten just as school was letting out.

Riley immediately spotted her kids in the crowd and went over to get them.

Finley stood there, looking at Riley with a somewhat pitiful expression.

Meeting Finley's gaze, Riley felt a pang of guilt.

But thinking of the news she had just seen, she really didn't want to face Donovan right now.

So, she steeled herself, bent down, and patted Finley's head. "Finley, can you wait for Daddy with Zoey? I have some things to take care of and need to go back quickly."

Without looking into Finley's eyes again, she hurriedly got up and took the two little ones to Deacon's car.

The kids still remembered Deacon and greeted him politely after getting in the car, "Hello, Uncle Deacon."

Deacon smiled warmly at them, started the car, and drove towards Riley's house.

The kids sat in the back seat, looking at Deacon's face in the rearview mirror, deep in thought.

They used to think Donovan was pretty good and wanted their mommy to marry him.

But now that Donovan was going to marry someone else, Deacon seemed pretty nice too.

Meanwhile, Paxton saw the news and immediately recognized the woman in it. He quickly found Donovan.

"Mr. Wilder, do you think we need to clarify this news?"

Donovan, busy with company matters, looked up at the phone Paxton handed over.

Seeing the content, his brows furrowed slightly.

When were they secretly photographed? Donovan hadn't noticed at all.

In the photo, they really did look like a loving couple.

Seeing the comments below, Donovan's lips curled into an unreadable expression.

"Mr. Wilder?" Paxton urged.

Donovan looked away from the screen and handed the phone back indifferently. "Let it be."

If they clarified, it would inevitably involve Riley. Riley had been trying to distance herself from him lately and wouldn't want to be dragged into this.

Paxton hesitated but agreed, and after waiting for a while and seeing that Mr. Wilder had no other instructions, quietly left the office.

Hearing the office door close slowly, Donovan put down his work and stood by the floor-to-ceiling window.

At this time, Riley should have seen the news too, and he wondered what her reaction was.
