Chapter 118: The Child, Not Hollis's
Riley suddenly found it somewhat amusing.
She still clearly remembered that six years ago, Donovan had sworn that he would marry only Hollis and even treated her coldly because she had taken Hollis's place.
Six years had passed, and now he was making such a clear distinction between himself and Hollis.
She wondered what Hollis would think if she heard his words.
Even if that were true, the principal had received instructions from Hollis and had already decided to set clear boundaries with Donovan.
Such things, if they happened once, would happen again. She didn't want the two little ones to live under someone else's threats.
Considering this, Riley gathered her thoughts and decided not to continue arguing with him about the issue. She calmly stated, "I've listened to your explanation. If there's nothing else, I'll be on my way.”
After saying that, Riley turned to leave.
She had no desire to remain in this miserable place any longer. Now that she was thinking clearly, she would soon locate the exit and wait there for Harper and the two children.
Just as she turned around, Donovan grabbed her wrist.
Riley paused slightly and turned back to ask coldly, "Mr. Wilder, is there anything else?"
Donovan was silent for a moment before finally stating his purpose. "I need your help with something."
Hearing this, Riley sarcastically curled her lips.
Sure enough, she was right. If Donovan didn't need her for something, he wouldn't have spent so much time finding her here.
“You know, last time Finley had a meltdown because she didn't see Landon and Winston at kindergarten. This time, knowing they won't be returning, she had an even bigger meltdown. When she saw you leave this morning, she became autistic and completely shut down. No matter what we do or say, it doesn't seem to help. The psychologist suggested that you might be able to assist, so I wanted to ask if you could come with me.”
Donovan's face was serious, and his grip didn't loosen, as if he was afraid Riley would leave.
After hearing his words, Riley was stunned for a moment.
Finley's condition was severe enough to require a psychologist, and from Donovan's words, even the psychologist was at a loss.
Moreover, it was because of her, Landon, and Winston that she was like this.
Riley didn't know they were so important to Finley.
Thinking of Finley's tearful face when she came to find them last time, Riley felt a bit shaken.
But then she remembered that Finley was Hollis's child, and her resolve strengthened again.
“Mr. Wilder, you keep mentioning that Landon and Winston were expelled from kindergarten at the behest of Hollis. Why would you assume I would assist in this matter? Hollis mistreated my children, so why should I help her child? Do you think I'm a saint?" Riley asked coldly, regaining her composure.
After saying that, Riley exerted some force, trying to free herself from Donovan's grip.
Donovan held on tighter, a hint of astonishment on his face.
Seeing his expression, Riley frowned in confusion.
Donovan snapped out of his astonishment, slowly narrowed his eyes, and his voice turned cold. "What do you mean? Do you think Finley is Hollis's child?"
Riley thought he might try to forcibly remove her and was ready to defend herself, but she was taken aback by his statement.
Her heart inexplicably clenched for a moment, but she managed to stay composed and coldly replied, "Is he not?”
Besides Hollis, she couldn't think of any other woman.
