Chapter 21 Riley is a Little Wild Cat
Finley obediently extended her injured hand for him to see.
Seeing the scars on her hand, Donovan's eyebrows furrowed. "How did you get this? Were you bullied by other kids?"
Finley paused for a moment and then shook her head vigorously.
Not bullied?
Donovan didn't understand. "Then what happened?"
Finley picked up the paintbrush again and carefully wrote a few letters on a book.
"Fall."
"Fallen down?" Donovan confirmed with her after seeing the letters she wrote.
Finley nodded.
Donovan breathed a sigh of relief and touched the injured area. "Did the teacher take care of your wound?"
Finley nodded again.
Donovan nodded and looked at her delicate hand, saying, "The wound will take a few days to heal, and we still need to take care of it. Daddy will help you, okay?"
Finley didn't refuse.
Donovan immediately crouched down, picked up the little girl, and went downstairs.
In the hallway, he sat her on his lap on the couch and instructed Cole, "Bring the first aid kit."
Cole nodded and quickly brought the first aid kit over.
Donovan took out a spray from it and sprayed some on her injured area, then massaged it for a while.
Touching the wound still hurt.
Finley didn't make a fuss, but kept her mouth tightly closed, and her beautiful eyebrows furrowed together.
Donovan occasionally observed her expression, checking if she was in pain.
Seeing the furrow on her forehead, he couldn't help but feel a bit confused.
This little girl's serious look was similar to that of the woman.
Feeling Donovan's gaze, Finley looked at him with confusion and immediately noticed her father's injured lips. She pointed at them inquisitively, clearly asking him how he got hurt.
Donovan understood what she meant and reassuringly held her small hand, saying, "It's nothing, just got bitten by a little wild cat."
A wild cat?
Finley was even more puzzled. She picked up a pen and paper and wrote, "Where did the cat come from?"
Donovan's expression darkened slightly. "It ran back from overseas."
After speaking, he didn't want to mention the woman again, afraid that he wouldn't be able to contain his anger in front of his daughter.
Seeing that the little girl still didn't understand, he directly took away the pen and paper from her hand. "No need to talk about it anymore. It's time for you to sleep. Daddy will take you to bed."
Although Finley was still curious, since Daddy said so, she didn't ask any further questions and obediently let her Daddy carry her upstairs.
...
When Riley returned, the two children were still awake, and Harper was watching TV with them in the living room.
Seeing her come in, the two kids immediately shifted their focus from the TV and ran over, calling out, "Mommy!"
Riley smiled and patted their heads.
"Have you been drinking?"
Landon smelled the alcohol on her and wrinkled his nose. "I'll make you some hangover soup. Your head won't hurt in the morning."
After speaking, he turned and went into the kitchen.
Winston pulled her to sit on the sofa, and he straddled her lap, earnestly pressing her temples. "I'm giving Mommy a massage so you won't feel uncomfortable."
Harper watched the two children, who were so responsible at such a young age, and her eyes gleamed with envy. "How come my godson is so mature?"
Riley chuckled and looked at her. "Do you like it? You can go have your own."
After hearing this, Harper shook her head repeatedly. "No, it's better not to. I won't have responsible ones like Landon and Winston. I just want to steal your two."
Winston continued to massage his mother's temples and reassured his godmother, "Godmother, there's no need to steal. If you get drunk, me and my brother will definitely take care of you like this."
Harper just wanted to hug the children and give them a kiss, but they were both busy. She could only restrain herself and said, "You two are so good, I love you guys so much!"
Riley shuddered at her mushy words and took the hangover soup that Landon brought over, drinking it slowly.
After finishing the soup, it was already late.
"Alright, I'm fine now. You guys should go rest upstairs!"
Riley kissed the foreheads of the two children.
Both children nodded, said goodnight to Harper, and obediently went upstairs.
