Chapter 92 Finley Falls Sick
As the words fell, a brief silence enveloped the car.
Riley realized what she had just said and regretted it a bit, keeping her eyes lowered in silence.
Donovan gazed heavily at Riley's profile, his emotions gloomy and unclear.
'Is she really resisting me like this? Is she so bluntly trying to push me towards Hollis?' he thought.
After a moment, Donovan coldly replied, "She's busy at the moment and doesn't plan on leaving."
Riley clenched the steering wheel in frustration.
'If Hollis couldn't drive you, does that mean I'm obligated to do so?' she thought.
But Donovan sat firmly beside her, and no matter what Riley said, he wouldn't easily get out of the car.
Riley had no choice but to start the car again and drive away from the Benedict family estate.
Meanwhile, Hollis hurried out of the mansion and, catching a glimpse of Donovan's face in the rearview mirror, her face pale with anger.
Seeing Riley's car moving away, she quickly drove to catch up.
It wasn't until they reached the main road that Riley remembered to ask, "Where are you headed?"
Donovan had indeed worked all day, followed by dinner with Mr. Benedict Senior. At this moment, he rarely found a moment of quiet, exhaustion slowly creeping up on him.
Upon hearing Riley's question, he rubbed his forehead and mustered his energy. "To the office. I remember you were passing by."
Riley frowned and glanced at him. "Working late again at this hour?"
Donovan replied in a low voice, somewhat passive.
For some reason, Donovan found himself relaxing unconsciously around Riley.
Seeing that Donovan didn't seem inclined to talk, Riley also fell silent, driving quietly.
However, as Riley thought of Donovan sitting beside her at that moment, numerous questions uncontrollably flooded her mind.
Riley remembered that before their divorce, Donovan had once said that only Hollis was qualified to marry him and Riley's appearance had hindered their marriage.
This had been a thorn in Riley's heart for a while.
Eventually, Riley came to terms with it and set Donovan free.
She had thought that once she left, Donovan would immediately marry Hollis as he wished.
Yet, in the blink of an eye, six years had passed, and Donovan and Hollis were still not married.
'What had happened for the past six years?' She thought.
With these thoughts, Riley instinctively glanced at Donovan beside her, almost unable to resist asking, but holding back.
After all, the relationship between Donovan and Hollis was their private matter. As an outsider, she had no right to ask.
No matter what had happened between them, it couldn't have been because of her.
Donovan's dark eyes narrowed slightly. His mind rarely relaxed, and various messy thoughts rushed up all at once.
Donovan didn't know what he was thinking at that time. When he came out of the mansion, the driver was waiting outside, but seeing Riley getting into the car, he inexplicably followed.
By the time Donovan realized it, he had already locked eyes with Riley through the car window.
And then he naturally got into the car.
Perhaps it was because he heard Riley's conversation with Mr. Benedict Senior at the dining table.
The thought of Riley marrying another man, made Donovan feel annoyed.
Suddenly, a ringtone broke the silence in the car.
Donovan collected his thoughts and glanced at the incoming call display, his brows furrowing slightly.
"Mr. Wilder, when are you coming back? Finley has a slight fever."
Auntie Cole's voice was filled with anxiety.
Donovan's expression turned serious as he responded, "Understood. I'll be back soon."
After hanging up the phone, Donovan looked at Riley and said, "Please take me back to the estate. Finley isn't feeling well, and I need to go check on her."
