Chapter 324 It's All My Fault

Meanwhile, over at the hospital, Hollis got a call from one of her underlings. "Ms. Sutton, we spotted Riley heading your way."

Hollis shot a glance at Donovan, who was chilling outside, and whispered, "Which hospital?"

"BrightCare Medical Center," the underling replied.

BrightCare was the swankiest private hospital in H City, and it just so happened to be where Hollis was holed up. Hearing Riley was on her way to BrightCare, Hollis's eyes lit up. "How long till she gets here?"

"About five minutes," came the reply.

"Got it. Keep tailing her and hit me up when she’s at the entrance," Hollis instructed.

The underling agreed and hung up. Hollis set her phone down and sneaked a peek at Donovan by the door. He was too engrossed in his phone to notice her. She eyed the water cup on the table and got up to grab it.

Donovan was busy checking company emails and didn’t catch her movements. Suddenly, the sound of glass shattering snapped Donovan out of his focus. A muffled cry from Hollis followed.

Donovan jumped up and rushed into the ward. Water was everywhere, the cup was in pieces, and Hollis was half-leaning against the headboard, looking all startled and staring at the mess.

Donovan frowned and stepped in to clean up.

"Donovan," Hollis said softly, her eyes full of apology. "Did I mess up your work? I saw you were busy and didn’t want to bother you, so I tried to get the cup myself. I didn’t mean to be so clumsy and now I’ve disturbed you."

She started to get out of bed to help clean up. "Work’s important. I can handle this. You should get back to it."

Donovan gently pushed her hand back and said in a low voice, "I’m here to take care of you. Just call me if you need something. Doing it yourself just makes more work for me."

Hollis bit her lip and stood there awkwardly.

After cleaning up, Donovan got a new cup, filled it with water, and placed it within her reach. "If you need anything, just call me," he said, turning to leave.

Hollis checked the time, knowing Riley would be there soon. She called out to Donovan, who was almost at the door, "Donovan!"

He stopped and turned back.

Hollis looked a bit embarrassed and lowered her eyes. "I really don’t want to interrupt your work, but you’re right. If I keep trying to do things myself, I might cause more trouble. So, could you come with me to see the doctor? My arm’s feeling a bit off."

Donovan frowned slightly. "What’s wrong?"

Hollis looked apologetic. "It’s my fault. I think I might’ve bumped my arm when I was reaching for the cup. I’m not sure if it’s serious."

Her face was full of caution and self-blame.

Donovan looked at her casted arm and nodded. "Let’s go."

Seeing him agree, Hollis’s face lit up with gratitude, but inside, she was scheming. At this rate, they were bound to run into Riley. She wanted to see if, after all this care from Donovan, Riley would still cling to him!
