Chapter 135 Never Allow Riley to Come Back

Upon hearing these words, Catherine's expression shifted dramatically. "Hollis, what are you on about? Donovan and that woman have been done for ages. I asked him straight, and Donovan said he has no such plans. Stop overthinking it!"

Hollis continued to sob with her head down. "But now, Finley spends every day with Riley. These past few days, she's even been staying at Riley's house. Finley likes her so much. If Donovan really had no such intention, why would he leave Finley in her care?"

Even though Donovan had scolded Hollis, she still kept people monitoring Riley's every move. Knowing that Finley was staying at Riley's house drove Hollis into a panic, compelling her to confess everything to her parents. After a stern reprimand, they brought her over to apologize. Seeing that Catherine had forgiven her, Hollis couldn't help but complain again.

Catherine hadn't expected Donovan to leave Finley with that woman and was immediately furious. "Nonsense! Who allowed him to do that?"

After speaking, she reined in her fury and tried to soothe Hollis. "Don't worry, there's absolutely no way they can be together. Even if Donovan has that idea, I will never allow that woman to come back!"

Hollis looked up pitifully at Catherine, seeking confirmation of her words.

Catherine's face was stern. "That woman abandoned Finley once. I will never let her take care of Finley again!"

Hollis, somewhat relieved by Catherine's promise, tried to calm down. After a few more minutes of conversation, Alice took Hollis and left. With Catherine’s assurance, their goal for today was achieved.

Hollis shed a few tears, and not only did Catherine not blame her for hitting the child, but she also felt guilty towards Hollis and even promised not to let Riley come back!

It was a triple win for Hollis!

Because of Hollis's tearful account, Catherine had a restless night. Her earlier assertions about barring Riley’s return weren’t mere words of comfort; she genuinely despised that heartless woman from the depths of her being. Riley had once abandoned Donovan and Finley. What assurance was there she wouldn't do it again?

Catherine was baffled by Donovan's audacity in even considering Riley's return. The more she dwelled on it, the angrier she became. Determined, she had someone investigate Riley's residence overnight, planning a personal visit the next day.

Early the next morning, Riley awoke to find Olivia already preparing breakfast. She was enjoying the meal with the three little ones when the doorbell rang unexpectedly.

Riley asked Olivia to keep an eye on the children while she went to answer the door. She assumed it was Donovan coming to take the kids to school, but when she opened the door, she was momentarily taken aback by the unexpected visitor.

"What, don't you recognize me?" Catherine stood at the door, dressed elegantly, exuding an air of nobility. She scrutinized Riley with cold eyes, then scanned the room for Finley.

Riley quickly composed herself. Although she was unsure of Catherine's intentions, she could clearly sense her hostility. Becoming wary, she still greeted her politely, "Mrs. Wilder."

Catherine nodded haughtily, then glared at her with displeasure. "Is this your manners? Leaving a guest standing at the door?"

Riley's frown deepened but she managed to suppress her emotions and stepped aside to make way. "Please come in."

Catherine snorted coldly before making her way into the living room, settling leisurely on the sofa.
