Chapter 126: Why Not Just Die

Despite Hollis's pitiful pleas, Donovan remained unmoved.

The large hand around her neck did not ease its grip in the slightest.

Hollis had to muster all her strength to breathe barely, but she still stubbornly refused to admit anything.

Donovan was already displaying ruthlessness, and if Hollis admitted to anything, who knew what he would do to her?

Paxton, who was following behind Donovan, observed Hollis's face turning blue and purple, her chest struggling for breath. Concerned that his master might inadvertently cause harm, he swiftly intervened. "Mr. Wilder, let go! If you continue like this, she might die!”

Donovan still showed no intention of letting go.

Hollis did not doubt that the person in front of her would strangle her to death.

In the end, it was Paxton who, with a heavy heart, pried Donovan's hand open, bit by bit.

Hollis, already weakened, crumpled to the ground as soon as the hand around her neck was released, gasping for air. Donovan regained his composure and glared coldly at the figure on the ground.

"If you enjoy putting on a show, keep it up. Once Finley is better, I'll inquire with her directly. If it turns out to be you, there will be consequences," he warned sternly.

With that, he turned and strode away.

Paxton quickly followed.

Hollis sat on the ground, clutching her neck with her hands. Tears of fear streamed uncontrollably down her face, yet her expression was filled with anger.

'Why couldn't Finley die?' she thought.

Now Hollis had to live in constant fear of being identified by Finley!

Hollis was filled with dread at the thought of what might happen. As they left Hollis's house, Paxton followed Donovan into the car, and the cabin fell silent.

After a few seconds, Paxton cautiously inquired, "Mr. Wilder, should we go check on Finley?”

Donovan, suppressing his anger, ordered in a deep voice, "Head back to the estate."

Though puzzled, Paxton complied and drove toward the Wilder family estate.

"Wait here," Donovan instructed before getting out of the car.

A short while later, Donovan returned with a dark-colored jar in hand.

Once back in the car, he instructed Paxton, "Go to Riley's place."

Paxton complied.

After Donovan left, Riley turned her attention to the bedridden Finley with concern. She called Landon and Winston to keep her company while she went downstairs to retrieve the medical kit. Riley then carefully applied medicine to Finley's wounds.

The two little ones tried their best to cheer up their little sister, but without any response, they felt a bit down.

Riley patted their heads. " Your little sister will need time to get better. You must be patient."

Hearing this, the two little ones nodded obediently and reluctantly returned to their rooms.

Riley also coaxed Finley to sleep.

Just as she was about to rest, she suddenly heard the doorbell ring downstairs.

Riley, feeling puzzled, went downstairs to investigate and was further confused upon seeing Donovan. "Weren't you busy? Why are you back?"

Donovan nodded. "I returned to get some medicine for Finley. Could you help apply it?" He then handed the ointment to Riley.

Riley looked at it and recognized it as an expensive foreign ointment, excellent for bruises. Her earlier dissatisfaction with Donovan eased a bit.

Riley had thought Donovan had left the injured child with her for the sake of work, but it turned out he had gone to get medicine for Finley.
