Chapter 361 I'll Wait for Your Call

After chatting with their partners, Riley and Deacon started to get a clearer picture of why their suppliers suddenly bailed on them. But they were still stuck without the herbs they needed for their research.

Feeling the pressure, Riley thought of Adam. She remembered him mentioning at the last conference that he was thinking about building his career in the country, maybe even settling down in H City.

Given Adam's big name in the medical world and the Smith Family's clout in H City, he probably had some good connections.

Riley felt a flicker of hope and turned to Deacon. "I'll call a friend."

She pulled out her phone and dialed Adam.

He picked up almost immediately, his voice warm and familiar. "Riley, what's up?"

Riley hesitated for a moment. Ever since they met, Adam had always been the one helping her out, and she felt a bit awkward asking for another favor.

Sensing her pause, Adam pressed, "Riley? Need my help with something?"

Riley took a deep breath and spoke softly, "Adam, do you know any good herb suppliers in H City? Can you hook me up with someone?"

Adam agreed without missing a beat, not even asking why she needed the herbs. "Of course. I'll reach out to them and get back to you."

Riley was taken aback by how quickly he agreed. She stammered out a grateful, "Thank you. I'll be waiting for your good news."

Adam's voice softened, with a hint of mild annoyance. "Why are you being so formal? You saved my family member's life; this is nothing compared to that. Even if I wanted to accept your thanks, my family wouldn't let me."

Riley smiled, feeling a bit more at ease. "Alright, I'll wait for your call."

Adam agreed and hung up.

Deacon looked at Riley, puzzled. He had no idea who she had called, but it seemed like the person on the other end was pretty influential. Plus, Riley looked a lot more relaxed after the call.

"Dr. Monroe, is this person... reliable?" Deacon asked, a bit unsure.

Riley nodded slightly. "I met him abroad; we graduated from the same school. You might have heard of him—Adam Smith."

Deacon's eyes widened. "Adam Smith? That Adam Smith?"

Adam's name was pretty famous internationally, especially among young doctors like them. He was a standout, with top-notch medical skills and a wealthy family background.

Riley actually knew him, and it sounded like they were on good terms!

Deacon felt a pang of inferiority. Riley was surrounded by exceptional people, making his own accomplishments seem small in comparison. But this realization fired him up. One day, he would make a name for himself in the medical field and be someone truly worthy of standing beside Riley.

Riley, unaware of his thoughts, was anxiously waiting for Adam's call back.

She hadn't told Adam about the institute being targeted or the potential dangers they faced. She worried about dragging him into their mess and whether he could handle whoever was behind this.

The thought of Adam getting caught up in their troubles filled her with fear.
