Chapter 428 What's Wrong with Riley
When Donovan got back to the estate, he found Finley sprawled out on the coffee table, messing around with some Legos.
Having spent a lot of time with Landon and Winston, Finley developed an interest in Legos, and Donovan eventually bought her several sets.
Since she was playing solo, Donovan got her smaller sets that fit perfectly on the coffee table, unlike the bigger ones for Landon and Winston.
As soon as he walked in, Finley glanced up, then hopped off the table to greet him. She didn't say a word, just stood there staring at him.
Seeing her, Donovan couldn't help but think of Riley.
On the plane, Riley had been terrified, but all she could think about was Landon and Winston.
Little did she know, Finley was her daughter too.
With that thought, Donovan gently reached out to pat Finley's head.
"Riley," Finley suddenly said, staring at him.
Donovan was caught off guard, furrowing his brow as he met her gaze and slowly pulled his hand back.
Finley pouted, grabbed his hand, and in her sweet little voice said, "It smells like Riley."
Donovan instinctively looked down at his hand.
Earlier on the plane, Riley had held his hand almost the whole time.
Finley wrinkled her nose and sniffed, then walked over to Donovan's side, saying seriously, "Daddy smells like Riley."
Finley pouted unhappily afterward, feeling upset that she hadn't seen Riley in forever, yet Donovan had met her in secret.
Thinking about it, Finley shot Donovan an angry look, turned around, and sulked her way upstairs.
Seeing Finley suddenly get mad, Donovan furrowed his brow in confusion and quickly followed her.
Finley sat on the carpet in her room, hugging her knees. Hearing the noise at the door, she glanced up for a second, then looked away.
"Are you mad?" Donovan asked in a deep voice.
Finley glanced at him, then turned away, full of complaints.
It was because of Donovan that Riley was avoiding her, but now Riley had seen him and still didn't want to see her.
Donovan, being her dad, could kinda guess what she was thinking and explained helplessly, "I know you don't want Riley to leave. Daddy's trying to find a way to make her stay, so we met. The reason I smell like her is because Riley wasn't feeling well when she came back, and Daddy took her home."
Finley first looked at her dad suspiciously, then, hearing that Riley wasn't feeling well, her face filled with concern. "What's wrong with her?"
Recalling what happened on the plane, Donovan didn't want to alarm Finley, so he simply said, "She's just not feeling well, nothing serious."
Finley pursed her lips, looking at Donovan with disbelief. "I want to see Riley!"
Donovan raised an eyebrow slightly.
Given Riley's attitude, she probably didn't want to see him again.
But Riley had always been soft-hearted towards Finley. If he took Finley with him...
Thinking of this, Donovan's lips curled into a knowing smile, and he agreed in a deep voice, "Alright, Daddy will take you tomorrow."
Finley didn't expect him to agree so quickly and was momentarily stunned.
Donovan gently patted her head and said, "Get some rest early. You have school tomorrow, and we'll visit Riley in the morning."
Finley finally snapped out of it, and thinking that she would see Riley tomorrow, she nodded obediently.
