Chapter 407 Don't Want to Get Close
Riley thought she was just going to sign a contract and then bounce, but out of nowhere, she had to go to a banquet.
Her future business partner was hosting it, and showing up in just a suit would be a bad look.
After mulling it over, Riley called Harper.
Harper picked up fast, "Hey Riley, what's up? Aren't you in S City for business?"
Before Riley left, she had asked Harper to look after Landon and Winston.
Harper figured Riley was calling about the kids and quickly said, "Don't worry, I already dropped Landon and Winston off at kindergarten."
Riley laughed, "I trust you, Harper. I just need to know if you know any good styling studios in S City. I gotta go to a banquet."
Harper was puzzled, "Weren't you just signing a contract? Why the banquet?"
Riley sighed, "The business partner sprung it on me last minute. Can you recommend a place? I don't know my way around S City."
Harper didn't pry further and thought for a moment, "I think the Brown family has a studio there, called Opal Hair Studio. I'll give their manager a heads-up."
Harper had traveled a lot and made many connections, including with the younger generation of the Brown family.
Hearing it was the Brown family, Riley hesitated.
The Brown and Wilder families were tight, and Riley wanted to avoid anything related to the Wilders.
As for the Benedict Group, she really didn't have much choice.
Harper, not knowing Riley's concerns, said, "I think they need appointments. Hold on, I'll call and see if I can get you in."
Then she hung up.
Riley couldn't argue and figured it was just a small studio, unlikely to involve anyone from the Wilder family.
A bit later, Harper called back, "You're all set. Just mention my name when you get there. I gotta run, talk later."
Riley barely had time to respond before Harper hung up.
Afraid of being late, Riley grabbed a quick lunch and took a cab to Opal Hair Studio.
By the time she got there, it was already 1 PM. She mentioned Harper's name, and someone quickly showed her in.
Riley picked a simple, elegant style and waited for the stylist.
While waiting, she thought she heard Donovan's voice outside but brushed it off.
Meanwhile, the manager of Opal Hair Studio was following Donovan, "Mr. Wilder, our head designer is waiting upstairs."
Donovan nodded, "Thanks."
The partner company had come through. Even though he didn't know why he needed to attend the Rogers Group's banquet, they had secured two spots for him.
Donovan hadn't planned on attending a banquet and didn't bring any clothes, so he called someone from the Brown family and headed straight to Opal Hair Studio.
