Chapter 416 Plummet
Seeing Donovan finally stop Ralph, Riley felt a weird sense of relief.
But then, she couldn't help but feel the irony. Donovan had been so cold earlier, and now he was all fired up.
To Donovan, her fate was probably just a game—a mere plaything for him to toy with.
Thinking that, Riley gave a bitter smile, ignored the chaos around her, and started to walk away.
But just as she turned, a big hand grabbed her wrist.
Riley glanced at her wrist and said coolly, "Mr. Wilder, if you're done playing, let me go."
Everyone's faces changed when she said that.
They'd only heard of Donovan and occasionally seen him on TV.
When they caught sight of the man earlier, he appeared vaguely familiar, but little did they realize that he was the legendary Donovan Wilder.
Realizing they'd messed with Donovan, everyone looked freaked out.
Ralph, still held by Donovan, was sweating bullets.
If he'd known Riley was Donovan's, he wouldn't have dared touch her!
"Mr. Wilder, this... this is a misunderstanding..." Ralph stammered.
But Donovan didn't even look at him. His eyes were locked on Riley.
Was she trying to run off to see Adam again?
Riley felt Donovan's grip tighten, frowned, and struggled a bit. She turned to him with a mocking look, "Mr. Wilder, haven't you had enough? Do you still want me to continue?"
She shot a disdainful look at Ralph, who was still held by Donovan.
The message was clear: if Donovan wanted to watch, she'd keep playing along with Ralph.
Ralph, drenched in sweat, hurriedly explained, "It's a huge misunderstanding, Ms. Monroe. I just wanted to be friends with you."
Riley nodded, "Indeed, Mr. Cook just wanted to be friends for one night. If Mr. Wilder wants to watch, I have no choice but to cooperate."
The air turned icy.
Donovan's eyes narrowed dangerously at Ralph.
Ralph sensed the danger and started to tremble.
"The Cook family from S City?" Donovan's cold voice cut through the air.
Ralph instinctively nodded, then quickly shook his head, realizing the implication.
Donovan narrowed his eyes and let go of Ralph's wrist, "You can leave."
Thinking about the trouble the Cook family might face, Ralph panicked. He tried to explain, "Mr. Wilder, I really didn't mean it. I didn't know she was yours, and you saw, I didn't do anything."
The more he talked, the angrier Donovan got, his eyes turning icy.
Ralph's voice trailed off. He stood there for a few seconds, then turned and left with his people.
After today, the Cook family's status in S City would probably take a nosedive.
