Chapter 101 Possibly Reconciling with Her
After finishing the braid, Riley took Finley out.
Upon turning around, she saw Donovan standing at the door.
Donovan's gaze darkened, his warmth hidden as he politely said, “Breakfast is ready. Let's go downstairs.”
With that, he turned and walked ahead.
Riley hesitated for a moment, noticing a subtle change in Donovan's expression, unsure if it was just her imagination.
Coming back to her senses, Riley led Finley downstairs for breakfast.
While eating, Finley naturally sat next to Donovan. As Riley moved to sit opposite them, Finley tugged at her sleeve, stopping her in her tracks.
“Ms. Monroe, why don't you sit next to Finley?” Auntie Cole, understanding Finley's intention, pulled out a chair next to her.
Finley nodded eagerly, looking at Riley expectantly.
Seeing this, Riley glanced at Donovan beside Finley.
Donovan's expression was somewhat stiff, meeting Riley's gaze before turning away without a word, seemingly indifferent to where she would sit.
Finley's grip tightened.
After a brief hesitation, Riley sat down next to Finley.
During the meal, Riley instinctively cared for Finley, while Donovan habitually passed food to her.
Finley, being doted on by both the beautiful auntie and her dad, happily ate the food they offered.
After breakfast, Riley checked the time and prepared to leave for work.
Finley still reluctantly held onto Riley's clothes.
“Be obedient. Auntie has to go to work. I'll come see you another day, okay?” Riley held her small hand soothingly.
Upon hearing that Riley had to go to work, Finley, though still reluctant, sensibly let go of her hand and waved to her.
Riley smiled, patted her head, and walked away.
Before heading to work, Riley had to go home to change clothes. She also couldn't help but worry about the two kids at home and wanted to check on them.
As soon as she entered, Landon and Winston rushed over. “Mommy! Why are you back just now? Did something happen last night?”
On the side, Auntie Anderson smiled as she looked at them, explaining, “Landon and Winston were worried about you and woke up early today.”
Riley nodded, hesitated for a moment, and eventually told Landon and Winston about taking care of Finley yesterday.
Upon hearing that Finley was sick, Landon and Winston anxiously asked, “How is Finley? Is she very sick? Can we go see her?”
Riley hesitated, then reassured them. “She just had a slight fever. After a good night's sleep, she's much better now. You'll see her at kindergarten.”
As Landon and Winston wanted to visit Finley, she should have agreed, but due to Donovan, Riley didn't want them to have too much contact with him.
Landon and Winston didn't insist and obediently nodded.
On the other side, Hollis had been followed Riley's car yesterday, watching her drive toward the Wilder family estate. When she returned, she couldn't sleep all night, so she instructed her subordinates to keep an eye on when Riley would leave.
In the morning, while having breakfast, Hollis received a call from one of her subordinates, only to find out that Riley had just left!
“Despicable woman!”
Hollis gritted her teeth and hung up the phone, her face turning livid. “She just returned to the country and is already pursuing Donovan!”
After speaking, Hollis felt a hint of anxiety.
Riley actually spent the night in the Wilder Family Estate!
Over the years, Hollis had at most just had dinner there and would be asked to leave!
In this light, Donovan's attitude towards that woman was…
The more Hollis thought about it, the more uneasy she felt.
Across from her, Hollis's mother, Alice Bennett, saw her expression and asked with concern, “What's wrong? Why so upset early in the morning?”
Hollis gritted her teeth. “That despicable Riley, she spent the night at the Wilder family estate! At this rate, Donovan is likely to remarry her!”
Upon hearing this, Alice's expression slightly hardened. After a few seconds of contemplation, she coldly said, “It's been a while since you've seen Aunt Johnson. How about inviting her out for a cup of coffee this afternoon? It's time to discuss this matter with her.”
