Chapter 87 Showing Off

Riley snapped back to reality, her gaze sweeping past Hollis to Dalton seated nearby.
Dalton keenly sensed the tension between the two, casually stood up, and walked over to Riley, blocking Hollis from view as if nothing was amiss.
"Dr. Monroe, my grandfather is waiting upstairs for you. Shall we go up now?"
Riley nodded.
Dalton greeted Hollis on the couch and led her upstairs.
Just as Dalton and Riley reached the staircase, Hollis' voice rang out leisurely. "I heard that under Ms. Monroe's care, Grandpa Benedict's health had improved significantly. I also want to go up and visit to see how Ms. Monroe works her magic."
With that, Hollis nonchalantly followed behind Dalton and Riley.
Riley furrowed her brow slightly. Since Dalton, the host, didn't say anything, she could only pretend Hollis didn't exist.
Under Riley's treatment, Mr. Benedict Senior had significantly recovered, moving out of his previous room and back to his bedroom.
As they arrived, Mr. Benedict Senior was half-lying at the head of the bed, looking quite spirited.
"Grandpa, Dr. Monroe is here." Dalton led Riley to the bedside.
Upon hearing this, Mr. Benedict Senior squinted his eyes, carefully sizing up Riley, and a grateful smile appearing on his face. "Dr. Monroe, I truly thank you for your treatment. Without you, I might not have made it."
In the previous few treatments, Mr. Benedict Senior had also met Riley, but due to his weak condition, he couldn't say much. After these two days of rest, he had regained some strength.
Riley politely smiled. "You don't need to be polite with me. I'm a doctor. You're the patient. Seeing your recovery brings me a sense of accomplishment."
With that, Riley sat down on the side, took out her tools, and began disinfecting.
Mr. Benedict Senior watched Riley's focused expression with clear admiration.
Seeing the way Mr. Benedict Senior looked at Riley, a hint of displeasure crossed Hollis' mind. She walked over to Mr. Benedict Senior with a smile, casually blocking his view of Riley, and greeted, "Grandpa Benedict."
Only then did Mr. Benedict Senior notice Hollis' presence and nodded. "Hollis is here too."
Hollis sat down affectionately beside Mr. Benedict Senior. "I heard you woke up. I should have come earlier, but the company has been swamped lately. Today, I finally had some time, so I hurried over."
After speaking, Hollis subtly glanced at Riley beside them and added, "Donovan was supposed to come as well, but he's been incredibly busy these days. He asked me to say hello on his behalf. Seeing your health improve, we are all relieved."
Mr. Benedict Senior looked pleased. "Both you and Donovan are good kids. Thanks to your concern in the past few days. Despite being so busy with work, you still managed to find doctors for me all over the world."
Hollis frowned slightly, "Why are you being so polite with us? Donovan and I both regard you as our grandfather."
As Hollis spoke, her attention remained subtly focused on Riley, her eyes filled with pride.
Listening to their conversation, which seemed to treat Hollis and Donovan as family, Riley's rational mind told her that their relationship had nothing to do with her, yet a strange feeling lingered in her heart.
Disinfecting the tools, Riley lowered her eyes to conceal her emotions, then calmly stood up, and walked to the two people. "Please step aside, Miss Sutton. I'm going to start the treatment."
Hollis was chatting with Mr. Benedict Senior with a very pleasant smile on her face.
Almost as soon as he heard Riley's voice, Mr. Benedict Senior's attention was drawn to her.
Seeing this, Hollis’ smile slowly faded. She gritted her teeth, and stepped back a short distance.
