Chapter 145 He Doesn't Want Us

Winston was hungry and immediately diverted his attention from the restaurant's decor to food when he heard the mention of food, eagerly listing off dishes. "I want steak, cod, and roast chicken. My brother and I love them the most."

Hearing this, Donovan turned to glance at the silent Landon.

Landon didn't want to respond initially, but since Winston had already spoken, he could only nod silently.

Donovan ordered dishes according to their preferences. For a moment, he didn't know what to say to them, and the table fell into silence.

When the food arrived, Donovan specifically asked the waiter to place the dishes in front of the kids.

Only then did Landon politely and distantly thank him. "Thank you."

"You're welcome." Donovan nodded noncommittally. He hadn't spent much time with Landon and Winston, so his tone was somewhat stiff.

During the meal, although Donovan didn't feed them like Riley did, he occasionally passed dishes to them.

The three little ones were engrossed in eating.

"Does it taste good?" Donovan couldn't find a topic, and after a while, he thought of a caring question.

Winston raised his head, touched his stomach, thought seriously for a moment, and then earnestly replied, "It's good, but not as good as Mommy's cooking."

Hearing this, Donovan raised an eyebrow and curiously asked, "Does your mom often cook for you?"

Winston didn't think much and answered truthfully, "Yes... When she's not busy, she usually cooks for us, but sometimes when she's busy, she might not even have time to eat."

At this point, Winston's face showed some concern, thinking that his mommy probably hadn't eaten yet.

Hearing this, Finley's eyes sparkled with envy. 'I also want to eat Riley's cooking every day.'

Donovan, however, didn't notice their thoughts. He was just curious about Landon and Winston's daily life. "So what do you do when your mom is busy?"

After asking, Donovan regretted it a bit.

When Riley was busy, their father would naturally take care of them. It wasn't like Riley and children were living abroad alone.

Thinking of this, he couldn't help but think of Riley.

Compared to six years ago, Riley seemed much sharper, possibly due to her slimmer figure.

Winston didn't know what Donovan was thinking and answered innocently, "When Mommy is busy, her teacher or the assistant helps take care of us. Sometimes Mommy takes us to the research institute, and people there all like us."

Hearing this, Donovan snapped back to reality, his eyes full of confusion and a bit of displeasure. "What about your dad? Why doesn't he take care of you?"

As soon as he finished speaking, the two little ones were stunned. 'Dad? Our dad is sitting right here, but he just doesn't know it.'

Landon silently put down his utensils, furrowing his little brows, and didn't let Winston speak. He looked at Donovan and asked, "What do you want to know?"

Donovan was slightly taken aback, and after a moment, he responded nonchalantly, "Nothing, just concerned."

Landon stared at him for a while, then angrily looked away and said in a not-too-loud voice, "We've never seen our daddy since we were born. Daddy is a big bad guy who doesn't want Mommy, and he doesn't want us. I don't like him!"

After saying that, he glanced at Donovan again, then lowered his head and continued eating.
