Chapter 368 Canceling the Cooperation

Meanwhile, over at the Benedict family villa, Daniel's face darkened the moment Riley walked out. The caregivers showed up right on time to help with his exercises, but Daniel, clearly annoyed, waved them off. "No exercises today. Everyone, leave."

He turned to Dalton, his voice dripping with frustration. "And you, you promised that collaboration with the research institute. So why is there a problem now? You didn't even catch it in time, and we had to wait for Dr. Monroe to come to us? What if she hadn't shown up today? Is the Benedict Group really going to break its word?"

Dalton hung his head, taking the blame. Finally, he admitted softly, "Grandpa, this was my mistake. I'll look into it right away and explain everything to Dr. Monroe. I won't let the Benedict Group's reputation take a hit!"

Daniel banged his cane on the ground twice, his voice icy. "Investigate now! I'll do it with you! Let's find out who dared to mess with the Benedict Group's century-old legacy!"

Daniel would never let the family's long-standing reputation get tarnished.

Dalton looked worried. He tried to persuade, "Grandpa, I might need to go to the company for this. You should rest at home..."

Daniel still needed to recover, and it wasn't good for him to be running around. Plus, he was still fuming, and Dalton was worried it might affect his health.

But Daniel, still furious, cut him off, "Dr. Monroe saved my life! I have to handle this personally so everyone knows how much our family values her! Let's go now!"

With that, Daniel slowly stood up with his cane.

Dalton, startled, quickly helped him back onto the sofa. After thinking for a moment, he suggested, "How about this, I'll call Barry over. You can ask him directly; he should know something."

Daniel reluctantly agreed, sitting on the sofa with a stern face.

Dalton knew why Daniel was mad and didn't dare waste time. He immediately called Barry, who was in charge of the medicinal supplies.

On the other end, Barry was already stressed about the situation. Seeing Dalton's call, his heart sank, and he nervously answered, "Mr. Benedict, what do you need?"

Dalton coldly ordered, "Get to the Benedict villa now. I need to ask you something. Hurry."

Without waiting for Barry to answer, Dalton hung up.

Staring at the darkened phone screen, Barry felt uneasy. After hesitating for a bit, he drove toward the Benedict villa while dialing another number.

Luckily, the call was quickly answered, "What's up? Did Riley contact you?"

Barry frowned. "No, she didn't. But Dr. Stone called me, and I brushed him off."

The person on the other end chuckled. "Good job. Remember, Riley is against the Wilder Group. There's nothing wrong with us canceling the collaboration with her."

Barry hesitated, his voice uneasy. "But now Mr. Benedict suddenly called me over. I feel like it's because of this. Didn't you say this was his idea?"

Barry had thought it was Dalton's idea, which was why he dared to brush off Deacon. But now, the more he thought about it, the less it made sense. Given Dalton's character, how could he do something so inconsistent?

Plus, considering the relationship between the Benedict Group and the Wilder Group, there was no need to follow the Wilder Group's stance on Riley. And judging by Dalton's tone on the phone, it sounded like he was about to hold someone accountable.

The more Barry thought about it, the more uneasy he felt.
