Chapter 194 Just an Accident
After finishing her porridge, Riley checked the time and thought it was still possible to make it to the research institute.
"My fever has gone down, Sophie. Could you please help me with the discharge procedures? I have work to do."
Performing surgery for Adam's elder had already delayed the progress at the research institute.
Riley didn't want her own situation to cause further delays in the research.
Sophie hesitated. "Ms. Monroe, you should stay in the hospital for another day of observation. I've seen how busy you've been lately. The sudden fever yesterday was definitely due to overwork. Now that your fever has just subsided, you're rushing to work again. I'm worried your body won't be able to handle it."
Sophie hadn't been taking care of Riley's household for long, but she had seen Riley's intense work schedule during this time.
If it weren't for her getting sick yesterday, Sophie would have doubted that Riley's body ever got tired. She worked tirelessly and still took care of the kids at home without ever complaining.
Over time, Sophie had come to see them as family and felt genuinely concerned for Riley, who was raising two children on her own.
Seeing Riley sick now, Sophie was as cautious as if she were looking after her own daughter.
Riley nonchalantly lifted the blanket and tried to get out of bed. "It's nothing. I'm used to it. Yesterday was just an accident."
Hearing this, Donovan's eyes darkened.
He still remembered Riley's impressive resume. In just six years, she had achieved so much. What kind of life had she led abroad?
Sophie was still worried. After all, she hadn't heard the doctor's exact words yesterday and didn't know Riley's condition well.
Hesitating for a moment and seeing Riley already sitting up, Sophie looked to Donovan for help.
For some reason, she felt that Riley might listen to him.
Donovan frowned deeply and walked over to the bedside, looking down at Riley. "The doctor said yesterday that you need another check-up before being discharged."
After speaking, Donovan glanced at Sophie and instructed, "Go get the doctor."
Sophie sighed in relief and quickly went to fetch the doctor.
Riley frowned in disagreement. "No need. I know my own body."
She was a doctor herself and understood the severity of her condition.
It was just a fever, and now that it had subsided, she could be discharged.
As she finished speaking, Donovan's questioning voice rang in her ears, "If you knew, how did you end up so sick that you couldn't even get out of bed at home?"
Hearing this, Riley was momentarily speechless.
Landon and Winston, hearing Donovan's words, nodded earnestly. "Mommy, let the doctor check you."
Seeing the worried looks on her children's faces, Riley swallowed her refusal and waited for the doctor to come.
Soon, Sophie returned with the doctor.
After a thorough examination, the doctor looked around and finally addressed Donovan, who had brought Riley in yesterday. "The patient's body is fine now and she can be discharged. However, she still needs to rest after leaving the hospital. After all, health is the most important thing."
Donovan nodded and gave Riley a faint look.
Meeting his gaze, Riley felt a pang of guilt and lowered her eyes. "Thank you, doctor. I'll be careful."
The doctor gave some routine advice before leaving.
Once it was confirmed that Riley was fine, Sophie went to handle the discharge procedures.
